The Santa Shuffle Story
The Santa Shuffle began 28 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta to fundraise for local Salvation Army initiatives when local Running Room members decided to use their passion for running as a way to raise money to support the less fortunate in their community. In 2001, the Santa Shuffle became a national event with locations in every province in Canada. In 2017, there were more than 16,000 participants who raised more than $650,000. All proceeds from the Santa Shuffle go back into the community where they were raised.
Through 7 locations in Regina, The Salvation Army provides support 365 days of the year to the people who need it the most. This support is in the form of food, shelter, transportation to medical/counselling appointments, addictions counselling, life skills training, Seniors’ education, increasing mental health awareness and support, school lunches, camp sponsorship, school backpacks, weekend meals, drop-in meals, and by being a friend and providing a listening ear. The Santa Shuffle is one way that Regina can help those in need locally!
