Dear Patients,

Following the most recent direction from government and the Chief Medical Officer of Health, we are now open to accept appointments and provide all in-person cares including fillings, extractions, root canals, etc. We have reviewed and rehearsed our new protocols -- we will be strictly adhering to the guidelines provided by Ontario Public Health and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), providing a safe and sterilized environment to protect our patients and staff. Due to this change, the wait time between patients will be longer than before. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Did you know dental health affects our whole body health? Especially long-term periodontics can cause gum recession, loose teeth and heart disease. Due to the increase in systemic inflammation levels, health issues arise that can be difficult to manage or treat. The response of the immune system may cause the formation of branched proteins on blood vessel walls, which may trap fatty plaques and platelets, this process narrows the diameter of blood vessels to the point where oxygen-carrying RBCs, which increases the risk for heart disease and related issues, such as heart attacks and stroke. So stay safe and brush your teeth twice a day! 😁😁😁😁 #dentistry

As the spreading of COVID-19, it’s especially important to do what we can to keep us healthy. Expect brush our teeth everyday, don’t forget to floss everyday! As flossing can protect us from gum diseases, which can weaken our immune system. So being proactive about your oral health – while it may not prevent you from getting sick – can certainly help keep your body’s natural defenses strong! 💪🏾 #COVID-19#fightagainstcoronavirus✌️

Based on the situation with COVID-19, and the recommendations of the Canadian Government, The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario has strongly advised all dental clinics in Ontario to close office. For the wellbeing of all, all HTL Dental offices will be closed until March 31, 2020. All scheduled appointments for the Month of March 2020 will be rescheduled. Please call 905-232-6661 or 905-477-1882 if you have any question or emergency. Thank you for your understanding!

A cup of green tea a day, keep your bad breath away.😀

😵: either you hate them or you’ve never had one. These painful little tooth pockets certainly aren’t the most fun things to deal with.

After Christmas, New Year’s Day is not far away!
I’m sure you’re tired of hearing how important it is to brush your teeth, floss once a day, and visit your dentist twice a year, so I’m not going to tell you to do that (…oops, I just did!😯😝). Here are a few unique oral health tips that are easy to follow and will help you achieve a healthier smile in 2019:
1. If you have high risk for decay or fluorosis, don’t rinse out the toothpaste after brushing. Instead, skip the water rinse and just spit out the toothpaste so that the fluoride stays on your teeth longer.
2. If you’re a smoker, try reducing the number of ci******es you smoke to 6 or less per day. While quitting smoking altogether is the best thing you can do for your oral health, reducing your smoking to 6 puffs a day or less can drastically reduce the risk of bone loss around your teeth.
3. If you have a sweet tooth, swap the added sugars with either xylitol or stevia. Unlike other sugar substitutes, xylitol and stevia are natural and have shown dental and medical benefits (especially xylitol). You can find both in most grocery stores and just remember to keep a few packs on you at all times so you’re always prepared.
So, there you have it! Making the resolution for a healthier smile is pretty simple. For more tips or information on how to get that new and improved smile you’ve been wanting, give us a call at 647-822-8234 to schedule an appointment.

🎄🎅The season of Santa Claus is finally here.🎅🎄 From eggnog to candy canes, the Christmas season is a joyful celebration for everyone. However, while enjoying the holidays is a must, taking it in moderation is also a must. During the holidays, sugar and sodium filled foods and drinks are plentiful; therefore, they can be dangerous when it comes to your teeth. Here are some tips to keep your smile strong in this Christmas:
1. Taking sugars in moderation or replacing them with sugar alternatives including a veggie tray with delicious carrots, celery, cucumber, or broccoli.
2. Drinking water to wash away the sugar-filled film that can attack your enamel.
3. Bring more calcium to your body, as well as vitamin A and B12.
4. Brushing your teeth in a 45-degree angle twice a day to help prevent gum disease and cavities from forming.
We encourage everyone to have a great time, but be sure to brush your teeth and keep good hygiene in mind! Give us a call at 647-822-8234 to schedule an appointment for your dental exam after this sugar season.
