Hey helpers, givers, and fixers-of-problems: it’s okay for you to ask for help, too. Because being a human is messy (and things can get complicated)!
We highly-responsible people sometimes struggle to take care of our own needs…
Usually because we’re so busy helping everyone out with theirs!
We think, “I’ll get some help once all *their* problems are solved.”
Buuuuut, wait a minute.
There will always be problems. So waiting until all the other people don’t need any help is NOT a good game plan. Because that’ll probably never happen…
Also, we deserve help, too.
(Because we’re people, too).
And asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness or failure.
It’s a sign of wisdom and strength.
Would you stand by while your loved one was flailing and stuck and struggling?
You’d want them to get some help, right?
You’d probably admire them for reaching out and seeking resources and getting connected with the kind of help they need.
How are you any different, my friend?
You are worth helping, too.
Sometimes we gotta take off the helper hat and remember that we’re just a cute little human.
There are limits to being human and one of them is that we can’t do every single thing all by ourselves.
Sometimes we will need some help.
That’s not a failure or a weakness.
That’s a boundary.
