Changes to Online Booking ‼️

We've made some changes to how New Patients can schedule their initial assessment for osteopathic treatment.

The reason for this change is to help ensure there is space for current patients to book their appointments.
This will also guarantee that when a New Patient does start with us, there's availability for follow up care and a proper treatment plan.

• From now on, if you've never been seen by Laura, you will need to call, email, or stop in Monday-Thursday to schedule your first appointment.

• From there, Laura or Allison will create an account for you, which will give you access to our Jane account to fill in your intake paperwork prior to your first appointment.

• All intake paperwork will need to be completed prior to your first appointment.

• Online booking will remain available for all current patients and follow up visits! No change there!

With all the snow forecasted for today, I’ve decided to cancel all appointments for Monday January 26th.
If you need to be on the roads, drive safe!

Snow clearing can be tough on your body! Here are some tips to stay pain free and strong while shovelling:
- keep your core tight and engaged
- lift with your legs, not your back
- avoid falls with a wide stance and a good shoe tread
- take lots of water (or hot chocolate) breaks!

When booking your appointment, an email will be sent to you with information on how to fill out the intake forms. Having the forms completed beforehand helps us save the appointment time for assessment, treatment, and questions.

Hello 👋🏼 My name is Laura, I’m the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner at Rigby Osteopathy.
I’ve had the privilege to meet quite of few of you by now, but I thought I should introduce myself properly!

I’m lucky enough to have been raised here in Charlotte County, attending SSHS and working many summer jobs in both St. Stephen and St. Andrews.
I moved to St. John’s Newfoundland for a few years, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. From there, I continued my education with a graduate certificate in Chronic Pain Management from McGill University, and finally landed myself at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Ontario.
It’s been a l o n g 11 years of schooling, but I’m very thankful to be back home in St. Stephen running my own practice😊

🔹As a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner (or an Osteopath as we say in NB), my treatment approach follows the founder of Osteopathy, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still's philosophy of "Find it, fix it, and leave it alone. Nature will do the rest."

🔹Treatment will be a series of small steps with the understanding that less is more and smooth is healing.

🔹This approach focuses on the root cause of the issue rather than just the symptoms. Your body has an inherent ability to heal, and my job is to simply help it along the way.

Osteopaths of NB! Woohoo! That means her billing number for private insurance claims is now active! Double woohoo!

🔹All receipts from osteopathic services by Laura can be submitted to your personal insurance company for reimbursement.

One of the most frequently asked questions is “what should I wear for my appointment?”.

🔹The best answer is wear clothing that you can move freely in and be comfortable in.
🔹If you are coming in for your appointment straight from work, that’s perfectly ok! You can bring in a change of clothes or come as you are. If you are wearing a dress or skirt, please think about bringing in some shorts.
🔹We will have you remove belts, necklaces, bracelets, watches, and glasses for your appointment.
