Hey all just wanting to share an email from Aleana Young, MLA Regina South Albert. Feel free to email yanasaskatoon@gmail.com and I can send you a PDF version of the petition to sign.

Dear Neighbours,
I’m writing to you to thank you for your interest and support of IVF and Fertility Care funding in Saskatchewan. You’re receiving this email because in the last four years, you signed a petition created by my office, calling on the Government of Saskatchewan to fund fertility treatments, up to and including two rounds of IVF for Saskatchewan people struggling with infertility.
In the last sitting of the assembly, I rose 56 times to present your petition, and shared your stories and hopes and struggles on the floor of the assembly. There are videos available on my Instagram and a few on my Facebook, as well as the Legislative Assembly feed, if you would like to watch. I could have risen hundreds more, thanks to the important work you did signing this petition, reaching out to my office, and having your neighbours, friends, and family members sign as well. On the last day of the assembly, I submitted a massive stack of petitions I had not yet been able to submit individually. Thank you for your care and courage and the support you’ve shown to the community and this issue. We had support from Archerwill to Bengough, Churchbridge to Meadow Lake, and everywhere in between. It was powerful.
As you may know, these advocacy efforts had some impact – which is encouraging. In the last election campaign, both major parties had platforms which included fertility care, and the Saskatchewan Party, having won the last election, is – I hope – in the process of implementing their tax credit promise.
However, while this is encouraging, as many of you know all too well, a tax credit does nothing to help those who cannot afford the thousands of dollars in the first place and will still leave families and individuals out of pocket until they get some measure back at tax time. As such, a new petition has been created, and I would ask for your help again in spreading the word, getting signatures from your friends and neighbours, and acquaintances across Saskatchewan. This is a nonpartisan issue, and impacts people regardless of faith, politics, geography, or situation. Any MLA can present this petition, although to date, no government MLA has chosen to. However, the more that we can show this is not a partisan issue, and the more voices we have from across Saskatchewan, the more understanding we can build.
I have attached the new petition and ask for your help in ensuring each page has THREE signatures and complete information (required for me to present it). All petitions must be received in original form (sadly, the Legislature cannot accept scans, only hard copy originals) and can be mailed to the address on the bottom of the petition.
If there is additional advocacy I can do on your behalf, please do not hesitate to reach out. I can help facilitate contact with your representative, meetings, letters, or other forms of engagement best suited to you.
If you are part of an organization or support group – please feel encouraged to share and circulate the petition and this email. I am committed to continuing this work until we achieve equitable and free access to fertility care.
Best,
Aleana
