Jordan's Principle- Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Children living on First Nation's communities have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential

Jordan River Anderson was a First Nation child born with a rare disorder who required hospitalization from birth. The provincial and federal governments could not agree on who was financially responsible for his care in a medical foster home. Jordan's condition worsened and he passed away in hospital before both government levels could resolve who would pay for provided services. On December 12, 2007, the House of Commons unanimously supported a Private Member's motion. The motion focused on adopting an approach that addresses First Nations children's needs first.

Another Successful Elk Camp! The Youth and Land Base Team Harvested 2 Elk from Turtle Mountain. They had a beautiful camp experience with Community and Urban Youth Members. Some of these Youth have never been to Camp and never experienced Hunting.

One of our Youth shared with our Land Base Team I have never done this before but I feel like I have. I feel like I have experienced this before. The Team Member shared with them thatโ€™s because itโ€™s in your Blood Memory. Your ancestors lived this way of life and itโ€™s in you thatโ€™s why you feel like you have done this before โค๏ธ

Our camp helps to not only revive our ways of life but also build the bonds between our Youth. They sat by the fire and watched the Northern Lights and admired their beauty. They work as a team while they are there and support and help each other. Community Unity, Team Bonding, Skill Development is all happening while they connect with the Land. Appreciate all the hardwork our Team puts in to give our Youth these experiences.

When the Harvest is ready the next step will be for the Youth to share their with their Elders and Community. This is an important part of the process. They get to give to others what their hardwork and sacrifice produced โค๏ธ Building their self esteem and reinforcing the importance of taking care of others. Community togetherness and Community Healing! Way to go BON Youth ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ so proud of them!
