Terry Fox to be featured on new $5 bill

The blue note will honour his Marathon of Hope and incredible legacy. Expected after 2027, part of its design is still in the works, with added security features for one of Canada’s most-used bills. Sir Wilfrid Laurier will move to the $50 bill.

Terry Fox showed how one person’s determination can inspire a nation, and now his story will be in our hands every day.

Today would have been Terry Fox’s 67th birthday

Given the advances made in cancer treatments, it is highly possible, Terry would be alive today if it was available at that time

On this day, in 1981 we lost an incredible athlete, humanitarian and Canadian icon

- June 28, 1981

The day family, friends, and all of Canada lost Terry Fox. After running an incredible 5,373 km across the country on his Marathon of Hope, Terry lost his life to cancer.

"I've said to people before that I'm going to do my very best to make it, I'm not going to give up. But I might not make it. If I don't make it, the Marathon of Hope better continue."

Today, Terry Fox’s brother Darrell is leading a cycle across Canada as part of a national effort to mark the 45th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope.
The 7,000-km journey, dubbed the National Ride of Hope, started this morning in Vancouver and is scheduled to arrive in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on July 10—the same spot where Terry began his run in 1980.

TODAY’S THE DAY! 🚴‍♂️ 🇨🇦

Darrell Fox and the team are setting off on a 7,000 km journey across Canada to honour the 45th anniversary of Terry’s iconic Marathon of Hope.
