This is a case of Gingival hyperplasia. Gingival hyperplasia is an overgrowth of gum tissue around the teeth, or even goes as far as covering the braces bracket!

Procedure: Fully Guided Implant Surgery using a surgical stent created from a 3D CBCT scan.

This periodontal disease patient, that was on a 3 month cleaning recall schedule, decided to proceed with implant supported dentures.

Procedure: Connective Tissue Graft using the patient’s donor tissue

This patient told us we changed their life!
⠀
This was a severe case of gingival recession that was treated in stages. The after photo is 2 months post surgery. The tissue typically takes 3 months or more to fully remodel.

“Minimizing Dental Implant Complications with 3D Digital Planning”

As a patient, you should ask as many questions as you can to make educated treatment decisions.
Dental implants are expensive, and any surgery has its risks. 3D Technology and Surgical Stents allow us to place implants with far more accuracy and less risk than placing them freehand with a 2D x-ray (a PA- Periapical radiograph).

A future post will list the different types of surgical stents- they all have different levels of accuracy.

Dear Dederich Dental Patients,

In light of the rapidly developing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we have been advised by the Alberta Dental Association and College that effective immediately, (March 17th, 2020), there is a mandatory suspension of all non-emergency dental treatments. Our office will remain open to take emergency phone calls for the next 14 days or until further notice. We hope to re-open by Wednesday April the 8th. As we receive new information, our team will be contacting patients if appointments need to be rescheuled or cancelled.
