Hi folks,
I'm dropping off gift certificates in Sointula in the coming weeks. Let me know if you want to be added to the list.

Massage Prices:
30 mins + 15 min consult = $50
45 mins + 15 min consult = $75
60 mins + 15 min consult = $100
90 mins + 15 min consult = $140

I've been massaging for 25 years, have studied many modalities and was an RMT in Manitoba.

I offer customized sessions from luxurious relaxation to deep tissue with trigger point work in my clinic space in Mitchell Bay (where we are renovating a very creative house!). I have an infrared heat mat on the table and use some hot stones to help melt tension in the muscles.

I also am an Expressive Arts Therapist and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor. Those sessions are covered by most insurance benefits but I don't offer gift certificates for them.

*I don't massage my counselling clients in respect of counselling ethics.

Thank you to everyone who has come for sessions with me and supported my little business here on the island. It's been a joy to get to know each of you and serve the community in this way.

More info in the c0mments.

An expressive arts exploration in the Port Hardy arena at yesterday’s Wellness Fair at the Civic Centre thanks to Mount Waddington Health Network and Marjorie Greensides.

Moving with the silent disco headphones in the arena felt so expansive and took me back to many Manitoba winters growing up on and around a skating rink. The clock reflection on the concrete looks like a sunset here.

I’m always deeply inspired by the creative intelligence that shows itself through the wisdom of experimental art-making and movement.

Curiosity, play and simple somatic invitations are the North Star of this practice and untangle emotional and mental knots while nourishing the creative genius.

It feels surreal that 25 years ago I graduated from a two year massage therapy program and embarked down a winding road of working with people and the relationships to the bodies they live in.

I studied numerous modalities that opened my worldview to many intersecting systems of understanding the miracle of the body.

Word on the street is the career span for an average massage therapist is 5 - 8 years!

There were many times I thought I would stop forever after hitting burnout repeatedly for a variety of reasons. Each time, I made changes, took the breaks I could and kept returning with new inspiration.

The difficult restrictions to transferring my RMT designation to BC from Manitoba were too much to take on while I was parenting. I didn’t want to take that much focus away from being present with Mayan.

When Mayan got older and it came time where I felt I had time to upgrade my skills, I studied Expressive Arts Therapy. This enabled me to intersect my passions of body-centred mental health services with the spark of creativity.

Having the combination of offering Expressive Arts Therapy and Counselling to my non-massage clients is a great fit.

The quiet space of giving massage and bodywork offers so much grounding for me as a therapist. I appreciate this more as time goes on. It’s like being paid to meditate, embrace silence and be present with the body and breath.

Putting people to sleep who come in stressed is one of my favourite things. The way people look when they arrive compared to when they leave helps me to experience meaningful appreciation for this work.

I have never very been interested in “fixing injuries”, even though I’ve helped many folks with hurting bodies.

What inspires me is providing nurturing care that helps the nervous system regulate and brain chemistry flood the body with feel-good healing hormones. I love supporting my clients to continue befriending their precious bodies.

I’ve not always done the best work during difficult times, but I’ve always done my best. I never thought I’d be doing it for this long, but here we are.

It’s been a path that has contributed so much growth towards who I am in this world.
