Over the past couple of years, I’ve heard a consistent theme from many women:

There is a real desire to understand what’s happening in the brain and body during perimenopause - but long-form programs can feel difficult to commit to in this season of life.

That feedback has stayed with me.

Because I also see how powerful it is when women do have the space to understand what’s happening in their bodies in a grounded, supported way.

So I’m beginning to shift how I offer this work.

Instead of longer structured programs, I’m moving toward more in-person, accessible gatherings where women can step in, learn, ask questions, and explore this transition in a way that better fits real life.

There isn’t a launch date yet; I’m still shaping what this will look like; but I wanted to share that direction is evolving.

And for the women who’ve been following along quietly, thinking or wishing this was more accessible for them, I hear you. That’s been a big part of what’s informing this shift.

If this is something you’ve been wanting more of, you’re not alone in that.

Follow along to see where this takes us.

I was invited to speak at a private gathering of women over 40 last night, and it reminded me why this work matters so much.

We talked about brain health in perimenopause - mood changes, anxiety, brain fog, and the very real neurological shifts that happen during this transition.

What stood out most wasn’t just the education, but the relief in the room.

That moment when women realize:
Nothing is “wrong” with them.
Their brain is changing… and it makes sense.

These smaller, intentional spaces create room for deeper conversations- the kind that don’t always happen in larger settings.

I’m incredibly honoured to be part of work like this, and to support women through a phase of life that deserves far more understanding than it currently gets.

If you have a group of women over 40 searching for more understanding of how their mental health, emotional well-being, and their entire identity are shifting, reach out to learn more about how I can help.

Hormone therapy can be incredibly helpful for women in perimenopause.

It can support sleep. Reduce hot flashes. Ease many physical symptoms. Help stabilize moods.

For many women, it's a crucial part of their care.

But, there's a conversation we're not having enough...

Hormone therapy doesn't fully explain (or resolve) the deeper shifts many women are experiencing.

The changes in your thinking
The mental load that suddenly feels heavier.
The irritability, the withdrawal, the sense that your capacity has changed.

The way your relationships feel different.
The way you're questioning things you once tolerated without a second thought.
The way your priorities are changing.

This isn't something to fix or reverse.

Because part of this phase is not just hormonal. It's transformational.

You are not the same woman you were in your 20s or 30s, nor are you meant to be.

No amount of hormone replacement will bring you back to that version of yourself....

Because you're not meant to go back.

You're meant to come out the other side wiser. More grounded.
Teachers, guides, leaders in your own life and in your community.
Respected elders, ready to pass on the lessons you've learned.

Much like the life-altering identity shift experienced in puberty, there is a natural shedding that happens here.
Of roles, patterns, expectations, and identities that no longer fit.

This can be painful - for you and for those around you.

While hormones absolutely influence how this feels in the body and brain, they don't replace the deeper work of understanding who you are becoming.

Women don't just need symptom relief. They need language, understanding, community, and support for what this phase is asking of them.

And it's so much bigger than replacing hormones.

A clinical check-in after 9 weeks of BHRT.

At this point, I’m seeing some clear shifts. Energy is more stable, with fewer spikes and crashes, and there’s been a noticeable improvement in overall motivation. Sleep has also become more consistent, even without me making it a true priority. 😬

Mood-wise, the volatile swings have significantly eased, and there’s a greater sense of emotional steadiness and mental clarity overall. That said, I’m not completely symptom-free. I still experience occasional surges of irritability/rage, which tells me there’s more fine-tuning to do.

There have also been some challenges.

I’ve had a few unexpected histamine-type reactions, including waking with sudden lip/face swelling, which is something I’m paying close attention to. I’ve also experienced hormone-related headaches, and recently had a severe migraine that was debilitating for a couple of days - a reminder that hormone shifts, even when therapeutic, can have significant neurological effects.

I’ll be following up with my physician to reassess dosing, symptom patterns, and potential side effects. This is an important part of the process that often gets overlooked. BHRT is not “set it and forget it.”

And this is where I want to be very clear:

Hormone therapy is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle.

In fact, feeling better can sometimes create a false sense of security - like you can get away with neglecting the basics. Improved energy and sleep don’t mean the foundations no longer matter.

If your metabolic health is dysregulated - unstable blood sugar, elevated A1C, early cardiovascular changes, adding hormones does not override those underlying issues. In some cases, it can add complexity if the groundwork isn’t there.

The basics still matter. Deeply.

• Nutrition that supports blood sugar stability
• Strength training and movement
• Sleep quality and circadian rhythm
• Stress and nervous system regulation
• Reducing environmental/toxic load
• Addressing unresolved trauma

BHRT can be a powerful tool but it works best when layered onto a system that is already being supported at a foundational level.

It’s all in your head… literally. 🧠

The brain fog, mood swings, anxiety, and motivation dips of perimenopause? It’s not YOU. It’s your NEUROCHEMISTRY changing.

Estrogen and progesterone shifts temporarily scramble focus, calm, and energy, but your brain is rewiring for the next phase of life.

According to the Grandmother Hypothesis, these changes prepare women to become wise leaders, teachers, and guides for the next generation.

While these symptoms can be distressing, they’re also an exciting sign of the kick ass human you are becoming.

In the meantime, while you wait for the update to finish, support your brain with nutrition, movement, sleep, and nervous system regulation and step into this next chapter with confidence.

The March Mini-Series is now full but there will be more opportunities to learn about all the changes occurring as a result of your shifting hormones very soon!

I've started on hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

And I still have symptoms.

Now - I know it's very early, and meaningful changes aren't expected this soon but, it's been a powerful reminder of something I talk about often:

We can't out-supplement or out-prescribe this massive life transition.

It's also worth saying this out loud: Not every woman is a candidate for HRT. Some are told they shouldn't use it due to their medical history or genetics. Some want to but don't have access or support. And still others have tried it and don't tolerate it. That reality can leave women feeling frustrated and alone.

Nothing, in my opinion, is more important than what we put in, on, and around our bodies - how we eat, sleep, move, manage stress, and support our nervous system.

Supplemental hormones are just that - SUPPLEMENTS!

They work best when layered onto lifestyle tools we should be using everyday - not in place of them. And, for women who can't use HRT, those tools become even more essential.

When lifestyle foundations are in place, the transition through perimenopause and menopause can feel steadier, more supported, and far less chaotic - whether HRT is part of the picture or not.

This March, I'll be launching the brand new MENO-CAUSE MINI SERIES - a small, intentionally designed group focused on the lifestyle interventions that support a smoother hormonal transition.

This isn't like other groups that deliver information to a room packed with other women yearning for all the help they can find. I keep enrolment numbers low so there's real space for questions discussion, and shared experience - not things you can find on Google.

Exact details will be coming this week so stay tuned if this sounds right for you! I'll
