"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller
Pathways to Better Days is a PTSD Peer Support Group founded in June of 2019 that is held every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9 at The Lantern in St. John’s, Newfoundland. We welcome all people struggling with mental health adversities as well as supporters who are focused on understanding their friends and loved ones.
We are all peers; we sit as equals and as one. Some of us have lived experiences with PTSD and other mental health illnesses while others are here as supporters for loved ones and friends. Pathways to Better Days is a safe place where we focus on the positive side of healing through trauma and learning to be better listeners in the process.
Our names and any discussions are personal and confidential, to be kept within our meetings only. As part of Pathways to Better Days, each of us understands that our topics heavily influence what we and others feel.
We honor and respect each other as we speak by listening and allowing the individual to work through and process what they are sharing. We do not judge, as everyone’s journey is different.
Your voice is both wanted and needed. As much as we feel drawn to comforting, we must refrain from interrupting the flow of the healing with advice and/or hugs of support. Positive encouragement and feedback is welcome once the speaker has finished. Let’s shower them with love and hugs at the end of the night!
Please join us in this safe space for healing and sharing. We are not Councillors! We are however peers helping each other discover coping skills and support, focusing on the growth side of mental wellness. We encourage and empower each other along our journey. You are Enough! You Matter!
There is parking in front of the building which is located at 35 Barnes Road in St John's. There is also overflow parking available at the rear parking lot of the Basilica with a well lit path that leads to the front of The Lantern.
We really hope to see you there. We are in this together.
