Maya’s story is just too good not to share! 💛
She came to us with a history of an eye turn and patching. Without glasses, the turn was really noticeable. With glasses, things improved but it still didn’t fully go away… plus she was dealing with headaches.
Her goal? She just wanted to be able to control the turn without glasses long enough to play a rugby game (since she couldn’t wear them on the field). At that point, she also had no depth perception.
From day one, Maya and her mom were SO motivated. She worked so hard in VT and did every bit of homework given to her. And it paid off! 🙌
By the time she graduated, she had no turn with her glasses, could control it without glasses (which is HUGE!), her depth perception was way better than expected, and the headaches were gone.
But our favourite Maya story? Around her 13th birthday she had a pool party. She didn’t want to wear her glasses, so she told her parents to let her know if they caught her eye turning. Guess what? She went the whole day without her glasses and her eyes stayed straight the entire time. (Remember… her original goal was just to get through one rugby game!)
We’re so proud of you, Maya! 👏✨
