The New Hope Community Centre, locatred at 25 Bunchanan Street in Downtown St. John's, at the George Street United Church which provides a wide variety of services for individuals in need in the community. The Salvation Army has always been a safe haven or people during times of crisis and need, as well as a provider of food, clothing, shelter, and services for those less fortunate in our community. As times changed, so did the needs of the people seeking assistance and it became clear that we needed to move beyond just providing for the physical needs of the people, to developing a program mod...el focused on the holistic person. The result has been the creation of the New Hope Community Centre where a person is given more than just a hand out - they are given a hand UP. Today the New Hope Community Centre provides people in need with a wide range of services and opportunities for growth. Some services include a Friendship Corner meal program, a Coffee Quest breakfast program, an Early Bird program, opportunities for fellowship and spiritual guidance, social work services, addictions counselling, employment training, and accessibility to a New Hope Clinic. The New Hope Community Centre provides people in need with a safe and caring environment where they can always count on being treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect. New Hope Community Centre provides social and interactive services to people who struggle with mental illness and/or addictions. There is approximately 80 clients who participate and use this non-profit organization. Mission
