It was another fantastic week at the Belmont! Our clients successfully completed their pressed art flower canvases, and the results were truly remarkable. This enrichment class not only enhances their dexterity but also encourages them to step outside their comfort zones, leading to delightful surprises in their own creations.

We were also entertained by Maureen, whose engaging presence always brings everyone together. It’s always a pleasure to have her, as she fosters a sense of community and involvement among the participants.

And not to forget our pet therapy 🙂

Weekend Tropical Paradise Day Recap

This past weekend, we transformed our dining room into a vibrant Hawaiian paradise, with beautiful decorations that captured the spirit of the islands. A highlight of the day was the photo shoot by Whispering Pines, where each client received a keepsake photo printed on-site. Clients had the option to choose between a magnet photo or a printed photo, creating lasting memories from our special day.

We were thrilled to have Jebadina Cubitt join us, showcasing her enthusiasm by dressing in stunning Hawaiian attire. Her beautiful voice always elevates our gatherings, and her commitment to embracing our themes is truly appreciated.

Our culinary experience was equally delightful, featuring a Hawaiian theme throughout. Our kitchen prepared delicious homemade personal pan Hawaiian pizzas, paired with a refreshing Hawaiian ambrosia. To cap off the day, we indulged in BBQ roasted pineapple over ham, complemented by a medley of root vegetables and decadent scalloped potatoes. For dessert, we savored a classic pineapple upside-down cake that perfectly embodied the spirit of the day.

To celebrate our vibrant Hawaiian theme, we also held a best-dressed contest. Congratulations to our winners, Jane and Liz, who each received a gift card for their fantastic Hawaiian attire!

Overall, it was a day filled with fun, laughter, and memorable moments that truly captured the essence of a tropical getaway.

The Belmont began the week with an inspiring session of chair yoga led by the incredible Sass Dempsey from the Creemore Sanctuary, a program that continues to be a favorite among participants.

In addition, our Listening Lounge takes place on Tuesdays in the library, where Matthew shares “The Art of Story” through weekly readings of short stories, poetry, and more.

We’re also thrilled to highlight one of our clients, Louise, an avid book reader who often finishes a book in just a day or two. Her enthusiasm for literature is truly inspiring and adds a wonderful energy to our community!

Labour Day Weekend Recap at the Belmont

We had an amazing long weekend filled with delicious food and entertainment!

Our culinary journey began with a refreshing appetizer of Luxe Shrimp & Herb Medley, featuring shrimp, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, celery, and red onion, all tossed in a creamy sauce infused with fresh herbs from our garden. The vegetables were hand-picked from our clients' garden, which they grew from seed, and expertly crafted by Chef Jasnich.

For the main course, we indulged in Savoury Steak Chèvre Crepes, drizzled with a rich Béarnaise sauce and complemented by roasted tri-colour heirloom carrots. This exquisite meal was finished off with a delightful dessert of Silken Vanilla Yogourt Ice Cream drizzled with Rich Chocolate.

Saturday was made even more special with the return of Eddy, who serenaded us during lunch. On Sunday afternoon, we were treated to a spectacular performance by a talented group of ladies showcasing the art of belly dancing.

It was a weekend filled with good food, great company, and unforgettable experiences!

We had the pleasure of hosting a talented young woman named Molly, who is self-taught in guitar and vocals. She performed a delightful set of acoustic 70s music at the Belmont, creating a memorable experience that bridged generations, especially since her grandmother resides with us. This was a rare moment for Molly, as she is typically quite shy, but she truly shone during her performance. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed her renditions, and we hope to welcome her back again soon!
