When I was preparing for my most recent birth, I made the decision to not have a birthkeeper present.
It wasn’t because I don’t value birthwork, it’s because I’ve come to understand just how delicate and sacred the birth space truly is.
For me, it was about protecting the energy of the room. I didn’t want to be influenced by other people’s emotions, opinions, or even their well-intentioned presence. I wanted stillness. Familiarity. My baby. My body. My intuition.
I wanted to birth in a space where every sound, every breath, every presence felt deeply known.
And it was beautiful.
But I also know that birth can bring moments of uncertainty. Times when you just need a gentle voice to remind you that everything you’re feeling is okay, that your body is wise, that you are safe.
My birth definitely had those moments and I’m thankful to my dear birthkeeper friends who I could lean on through the phone.
A gentle nudge to connect me back to everything I hold and knew within.
That’s why I began offering virtual support.
So that women who want to keep their birth space private and sacred can still reach out through text, call, or FaceTime when they need reassurance, reflection, or simply to be witnessed in their power.
Because sometimes, support doesn’t have to be in the room to be felt.
If this kind of support speaks to you: the kind that honours your privacy, your intuition, and your sacred birth space, reach out and I’ll share more about how I support women virtually through pregnancy, birth and postpartum ❤️
