Chinese medicine believes the body is a microcosm of the Universe and the environment in which we live. The Five Element theory uses the nature of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water and the way that they interact with each other as an analogy to explain bodily function and imbalance or disease. Over the next few weeks, each Thursday I'll dive deeper into Five Element Theory and how it is used to help diagnose and treat our 4 legged friends.

Most people think of acupunture for musculoskeletal pain, such as arthritis, disc disease, and injuries. But it's amazing for all sorts of diseases. I wish I had a before picture of this lovely girl. When she came to me she was nearly bald, and her skin was red, itchy, and dry. She had 2 treatments two weeks apart, and some diet changes based on Chinese medicine food theory, and came back for her third treatment at the 4 month mark looking like this! Chinese medicine excels at treating diseases that are often hard to control with conventional medicine.
