The ANCHOR Program is a ground-breaking new study aimed at helping Veterans living with PTSD and chronic pain, residing in British Columbia, Canada.

ANCHOR (Accelerated Neuromodulation for Concurrent PTSD & Chronic Pain in Veterans) is a 12-month proof-of-concept study testing accelerated rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) - a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that targets the brain’s pain and trauma centres.

TMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of PTSD. Studies have shown good potential for people where standard treatments, such as medicines and psychotherapy, aren’t enough. Complementary therapies like TMS may be needed for long-term lasting reductions in symptoms.

ANCHOR Program Details:
🧠 Treatment: 12 months, with 1-week rTMS + 6-week follow-up
📍Location: Legion Veterans ViIlage Centre of Clinical Excellence, Surrey, BC
🧍‍♂️Number of Veterans: 30 Canadian Military and RCMP Veterans from British Columbia, Canada
🔬 Outcomes Being Measured: PTSD symptoms, chronic pain severity, depression & anxiety, disability & psychosocial functioning, cognitive function, safety and feasibility

Vimy Ridge: More than a moment, a legacy

Yesterday marked the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, but today and every day, we carry their courage in the silence of remembrance.

The April 9th attack on Vimy Ridge is where, for the first time, all four Canadian divisions fought together as a unified corps. The troops went over the top at 5:30 AM, and by the afternoon, they had gained significant ground. But the battle lasted four grueling days, finally concluding on April 12th with the full capture of the ridge.

The battle has taken on a huge significance for Canadians because it marked Canada’s entry onto the world stage as a distinct nation.

Over 3,000 of Canada’s best and brightest vanished and some 7,000 returned home - many with horrific physical and psychological injuries. We honour their sacrifice every day.

“Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ And the warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’”
