After birth, the attention naturally shifts towards the baby... this precious new life that all are eager to meet.

Birth trauma is real and it affects millions of mothers.

When you think about the experience you had giving birth, how do you feel? If you have a lot of negative emotions, you probably have some trauma from the experience. It could be because of how you were treated, or because something happened that felt scary and out there of control.

Even though it was in the past, it can affect your self confidence in the present. It can affect your relationship with your child, your partner, and your parenting.

A lot of the time, birth trauma can lead to postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. It can last for years.

But most people never address the experiences that led to the trauma. They just brush it off by saying, “As long as you have a healthy baby, that’s all that matters.”

No.

You matter.

Your emotional and physical wellbeing matter too.

Nearing the end of your pregnancy journey? Sometimes moms go through a transition phase where they feel some negative emotions at this point.

It’s normal to experience some worry, self doubt, frustration, guilt, or a lack of motivation to do anything “productive”. Sometimes moms are worried and feeling guilty if they are not excited about the baby before it arrives.

Here’s my message to you if that’s how you’re feeling.

You made the best decisions for your child. You should be proud of yourself!

And btw, it is absolutely normal to feel unmotivated to do anything when you’re 8 or 9 months pregnant. You just grew an entire human being! That is hard work!

Be proud of yourself.

It is normal to not feel excited to meet your child. That excitement comes after the child is born not before.

For the last few weeks of pregnancy, your job is only to enjoy these last few weeks. You are at a junction between worlds. You are creating a miracle. Your body is amazing. You have everything you need within yourself. Go Within.

Do whatever makes you feel good. Stretch, take long showers or baths, go for long relaxing walks in your favourite place, listen to your favourite music, paint, dance, take pictures of yourself, eat your favourite foods, do whatever makes you happy.

Your only job for the last few weeks of pregnancy is to pamper yourself and bask in the amazingness of being part of Creation.
