I just got to be a part of an amazing retreat called "One Body to Love" hosted by Dr. Meredith Mackenzie- who is my wonderful supervisor. The women who attended were so vulnerable in sharing their experiences with diet culture and living in a body they were told they need to fix or control to be accepted. So much healing was accomplished today! We will be doing a virtual group on the same topic, and I am so excited.

Sometimes our thoughts become distorted. Here's a list of some ways this can happen. Do you recognize any of these? Recognizing unhelpful thought patterns can be the first step in changing them! If you notice these things, you can try:
1. Avoiding generalizing
2. Practicing mindfulness- being in the present moment
3. Considering other perspectives
4. Offering self-compassion and trying to accept your thoughts without judgment or attaching too much importance to them

Hello, and welcome to my page! I am a counselling intern open to book clients through Slater and Associates Counselling and Psychology. I provide a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space to help people on their mental health journeys. I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with my clients.

If you know anyone who is thinking about reaching out to a counsellor, please feel free to share this page*.

I can see clients who live anywhere in BC virtually, or I can do in-person sessions at our South Surrey office.

*It is important that I avoid a dual relationship, so please reach out for yourself only if we have a distant association.
