If I had known..

All the tears would be worth it.
Even when they don't seem like they are listening, they are absorbing more than you think.
It's both amazing and humbling when they are more emotionally regulated than you are.
It's both amazing and humbling to witness their brilliance emerge as they grow into themselves.
Just having them know that I will be there is enough.

I'm gearing up to catch you all up on the adventures of Raising Three Daughters.

Today - I've got a 19 year old, 16 year old and a 14 year old now.

Three fiercely independent teenage daughters.

If someone could have convinced me that the intentional care I was putting in during the early years would one day become these three amazing humans, those harder days might have felt even more worth it.

Mamas... trust me - we're raising girls that'll be changing the world.

🍃 "The strongest trees grow in the windiest conditions; she too will thrive." 🍃

I often find nature's wisdom reflecting our own life's journey. Think about those towering trees that have weathered countless storms, their roots deep and trunks solid. They didn't become that way by simply basking in sunlight; it was the persistent wind that shaped them.

Just like those trees, our daughters face their own winds – especially during those pivotal years where social relationships weave intricate patterns. The whispers in hallways, the cold shoulders at lunch, the digital dramas unfolding on screens... these are the modern-day gusts they face. As mothers, our instinct is to shield them, to keep them safe from pain and hurt.

But here's a heartening truth: navigating these challenges is crafting resilience within them. Every struggle faced, every tear shed, and every lesson learned in the realm of friendships and relationships is molding them into stronger, more resilient individuals.

While we cannot, and perhaps should not, protect them from every storm, we can empower them with the belief in their own strength. We can teach them to see not just the pain of the moment, but the growth that emerges from it.

Motherhood often feels like navigating a ship through unpredictable seas. On turbulent days, when her pain is palpable and her actions might seem defiant, we're torn. One part of us wants to steer her right, ensuring she understands boundaries and learns respect. Another part? That part just wants to shield her, embrace her, and whisper assurances into her ear.

It's essential to remember, just as storms don't last forever, neither do these tumultuous moments. And much like our planet revolves around the sun, unseen yet unyielding, our daughters too find their orbit around us. They might not always recognize it, but our love, our values, our teachings—they are the gravity that holds them in place.

So, even on the stormiest days, remember that your unwavering love is her anchor. It's the force she might push against, but it's also the one she'll return to, time and again.
