👉 OTC (Over-the-Counter): No prescription needed. Great for everyday issues like pain, allergies, or colds.
👉 Prescription: Doctor-approved for more serious or ongoing conditions like infections or chronic illness.

📣 Attention Ontario Seniors (65+)

A friendly reminder that August 1st marks the start of a new $100 deductible period under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Program.

💊 What does this mean?
Most seniors will begin paying toward their $100 annual deductible when filling prescriptions.

👉 This amount is usually spread out over several prescriptions — unless your first fill in August is a high-cost medication.
After the $100 is paid, you’ll only pay a co-payment of up to $6.11 per covered prescription.

Are you a low-income senior?

You may qualify for the Seniors Co-Payment Program (SCP), which offers:
✅ No $100 deductible
✅ Reduced co-pays (max $2 per prescription)

📌 Who qualifies?
• Single seniors with an annual net income of $25,000 or less
• Senior couples with a combined net income of $41,500 or less

📄 You must apply to receive these benefits — ask your pharmacist for help or visit Ontario.ca for more info.

If you’re active in hot weather, watch for muscle cramps — they’re a sign your body’s low on fluids and salt.

✔️ When cramps hit:
☀️ Find some shade or a cool area
💧 Drink water or an electrolyte drink
💆‍♀️ Stretch and gently massage the muscle
⏸️ Take a break from exercise for a few hours

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer — but early detection can make all the difference. The ABCDE rule helps you know what to watch for:

✅ A — Asymmetry
✅ B — Border irregularity
✅ C — Colour variation
✅ D — Diameter over 6mm
✅ E — Evolving shape, size, or colour

👉 Canker sores: Small sores inside the mouth (cheeks, lips, tongue) — not contagious.
👉 Cold sores: Blisters around the lips and mouth — caused by the herpes virus, highly contagious but not harmful.
