My Story is a Journey...

I didn’t appreciate my health until it was gone...

As a kid, I grew up on a dairy farm and always told people I was my dad’s son because I would go out and work with my parents even when I was little. I totally thought I was strong and I could do anything. I drove tractors, threw hay bales and even carried holstein calves home from the bush where momma cow had decided to deliver. As I got older, I got into ski patrolling and I could take a person down in the “meat wagon” doing a snowplow. When I decided to head to Alberta, I got a job at a dairy farm and the farmer figured he should get lots of work out of me. One day there was a semi load of small bales delivered to a field. My job was to empty the semi trailer by myself and to pile it in the field by myself and then cover it with the big silver tarps by myself. It was hard work but I got it done. Every weekend, I took one day to walk into town, go for lunch and walk back. It was a 20 km round trip.

In my teen years and into university, I had developed depression although most people thought I was lazy for skipping class a lot. Finally, after it got serious, I did get onto anti-depressants but that is a whole story on its own. Shortly after I turned 30, I was diagnosed with early degenerative disease in my hip(s). Now after 20 some years, I am finally getting a hip replacement. The depression came and went over the years. It was bad enough at one point to get me hospitalized for a week but I did get through it. Since 2014, I have had family challenges including losing my elderly parents less than a year apart. Meanwhile, my marriage fell apart and my teenaged daughter desperately wanted to be back in Alberta. Yes, the depression came back but with it came something like a chronic fatigue syndrome and, although I had guessed I had it years ago, attention deficit disorder was complicating my life. I truly believe that if I hadn’t been taking the micro-nutrients that I was getting from eating Juice Plus I would not have made it through the last couple of years. I have come a long way but my journey feels like it has only just begun... cue the music... The Carpenters... “We’ve Only Just Begun to Live”. Thanks for following along with me. I hope you find your journey as well and maybe mine will inspire yours.
