Dr. Brent Cameron, ND As a Naturopathic Doctor, I combine the best of alternative and conventional medicine to find and treat the cause of disease.

Call today for a Free 15 minute consultation! http://www.doctorscameroncollier.com/ Dr. Cameron is a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, currently practicing in Mesa, Arizona. Upon graduating from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, he spent more than a year in Southern California, working both in private practice as well as in a specialized Diabetes treatment facility, where he garnered extensive knowledge and expertise on the topic. As part of an integrated family practice setting, he can serve as a Primary Care Provider for patients of all ages. Dr. Cameron’s primary focus is working alongside the patient to treat the cause of their disease, rather than offering temporary relief of their symptoms using methods that typically would become less effective and often habit-forming in the long-term. He does this by employing a holistic approach, looking at all aspects of a patient’s lifestyle, and making necessary adjustments to help each patient achieve his or her highest health potential. As a Naturopathic Doctor, his training is in family medicine; however, he specializes in Men’s Health, Sports Medicine and Natural Pain Relief, Diabetes, and weight loss from a natural standpoint. He has experience and success treating patients with varying medical backgrounds including but not limited to: Auto-immune disorders, Eczema and Psoriasis, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, sleep disorder and Thyroid Issues. In his free time, Dr. Cameron likes camping and fishing, practicing yoga, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with his fiancée and their two dogs. He also frequently travels back to Ontario, Canada to visit his family and fish at a lodge that has been in the family for nearly 30 years.

What a day on the lake! .loney took us out and did not disappoint!! It’s also pretty cool getting out to a lake that likely less than a few hundred people have ever fished.

Had a great time on the lake, even not catching any fish haha.

Something was reinforced for me today about fitness. Something a lot of us chase is convenience and there’s always a trade off. I got to use a manual auger to drill holes in the ice. It took about twice as long as the gas power auger, maybe a minute instead of 30 seconds (with 20” of ice). I’m out here for the day so I can definitely afford the time so it made me wonder why we bring in these conveniences.

The more we add easier ways of doing things, or said a different way, the more we have tools do the heavy lifting for us, the weaker we get. And it all adds up.

I’ve made it a habit to do more things by hand - shovel the driveway, walk to the mailbox I stead of driving, taking the stairs instead of the elevator (this one is obvious), chopping wood (one of my favorite things) instead of using a splitter.

The less we use the conveniences of a wealthy nation, the less we succumb to the diseases of wealthy countries.

Part 3 of 3

Fitness - my number one rule is find something that you love to do, that will keep you as active as you want to be at 90. I want to be able to climb a mountain at 90, it won’t be the mountain I climb at 30 or 40, but it will keep every part of me going.

Also, outdoor fitness is even better for the body because we absorb rays from the sun that decrease depression! Make sure to spend the first 20 minutes or so when you’re outside without sunglasses to get the most out of it!

This ended up being a 21 mile hike, which I especially love because it’s a great way to build (I’ve always come out of these longer hikes realizing how much more I can push than I realize)

The second photo is of Devil’s Corkscrew in the Grand Canyon from my most recent hike.

Presence - Slowing your mind down, usually with no cell service, all you have are your thoughts and the people around you. It’s my best prescription for myself when I’m not staying present (and that’s easy to do in life) appreciating the beauty around you is a great way to be present.

No picture will do the real thing justice. Any piece of art you’ve seen, no matter how beautiful, will ever give you that feeling of slight overwhelm at the vast and beautiful scenery in front of you. So get out and take it all in!!

Wildlife - I think it’s so cool to see animals in the wild-not just when we’re driving - seeing them in their natural habitat when you’ve worked for it is even better.
Here are a few animals I saw on my most recently Zion/Bryce/Grand Canyon trip

First is a few bighorn sheep on my long hike to observation point in Zion.

The second is a nice 10 point buck I spooked (or, really, he spooked me because I tracked a mountain lion overtop my tracks in, for 3 miles).

The last one is a small fawn in the Grand Canyon (and a cameo from my good friend)

I’ve decided into incorporate one of my passions into my feed. I love everything to do with the outdoors. I’ve been on a few adventures and I’m going to start posting about them, past, present and future. I’m currently on one, in Zion National Park. It’s a solo trip and it’s been a blast. Hiking is one of my favorite things to do to stay . The second pic is me half way through a hike to observation point

This side dish!!! I’m not a very good photographer

But hey, that’s not why you’re here! I love to cook! Every aspect. The creativity, cooking delicious food for people, making healthy food taste amazing, it’s all part of the fun for me. I really love the process of cooking.

This started because we have WAY too many carrots. Greyson eats carrots every time we go through the store and so we keep accumulating them. Also I love the look on my wife’s face when I being home moor carrots and we already have a lot!!

Today I did what I love, I looked at an ingredient, the carrots, and thought, alright, what is going with these carrots. Here’s what I came up with

4 cloves of garlic fried in 2T of olive oil
Add 2 cups of sliced carrots and 2T water, and cover until carrots are tender, about 8 min.
Take off the heat and add in 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp salt and 1Tbsp honey
Mix and serve

Let me know how you like them!

What’s your favorite garden food? (See the bottom for mine)

We’re starting a garden. Probably the smallest I’ve ever done, but this one is for G. Now he’s a kid that loves his veggies, the kid that always asks for a carrot to munch on going through the grocery store (no joke, every Sunday while we’re shopping). I am really excited however to see him take part in the whole process.

I think we’ve become very removed from this and I believe for the worse. Not only is there a different energy about it, but it tastes SOOO much better in most cases (but to be fair, I’ve never had great luck growing broccoli). There’s also great research about probiotics we get from playing in the dirt.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to calculate how much these things are costing me because I could definitely get it cheaper from a store. I’m doing it for the joy it brings me, gardening and hanging out with my little guy and connecting each of us more closely to our food.

And my absolute, hands down favorite garden fresh food are carrots. I remember ‘getting in trouble’ as a kid for going through the garden and eating them at my grandparents’ house.
