invest in yourself.

Have you ever told yourself “I am young its ok!” , “I can’t relax I have so many things to do!” or “I feel fine so I must be fine.”

These are things we tell ourselves often and forget the number of years that fly by as we repeat these over and over again. Mental health illnesses and physical ailments creep up on us in the smallest of ways but effect us magnanimously.

With baby boomers having to move from a very mobile lifestyle to adapting to a sedentary work-from-home lifestyle, we see the exponential increase in mental and physical health stress.

We have the willpower to make mindful choices and make better decisions on our own and with the help of a caring healthcare practitioner. Education on daily helpful habits, stress on the body, nutrition for better mental health and movement for the mind are some of the discussions we openly talk about with our clients.

We strive to continuously educate our clients on the value of their life and how their health impacts it. We show them through small daily habit changes that they can turn their life around.

Age does not define your capabilities. Who you choose to be, defines who you are.

Curious to learn more about these mindful habits? Contact us to see how we can help and let us know what you think about this topic!

chronic pain — roadmap & recovery

chronic pain is not fun. accepting your chronic pain and limiting the things you do can significantly impact your mental and physical health.

pain is pain, but finding the right tools and guidelines for you and your chronic pain will help alleviate a lot of limitations you put on yourself.

you can go on walks with chronic knee pain. you can lift things with chronic low back pain. you can play sports with chronic shoulder pain. BUT, how you work towards it, how you work on releasing and strengthening those areas vary for every person and every symptom.

YOU have the potential to always be better.

adding movement in your day — its easy as 1, 2, 3

anyone else guilty of not being able to add movement in your day due to a busy schedule, virtual school, lockdowns, working from home and every other excuse our mind comes up with?

well, adding movement into your day becomes achievable when we pair it with something we do daily. a few things include: taking a shower, eating, watching tv, and using the bathroom.

it’s important to always start small and realistic, and then work your way towards pairing it with more challenging activities such as doing 10 push ups every time you finish an episode on Netflix 🤪 (I know many of you know how easy it is to binge on Netflix nowadays).

I challenge you to try adding movement in your day for 21 days! When possible, implement doing some activities outdoors under the bright sun ☀️

movement is medicine part 1 — movement and mood

have you ever said “I’ll just have one more donut and I’m done! I swear” ... and then you end up going for the second donut? there is something about it that’s addicting right?

🔎did you know this happens because certain chemicals are being released in our body changing the way we feel!

essentially we are seeking for something that makes us feel content. movement can help us achieve contentment mentally, physically and emotionally. regular exercise has benefits to our mood at a chemical and neural level.

sarcopenia - muscle degeneration

its been over a year in a pandemic and a sedentary lifestyle has become a new lifestyle for many. some have seen an increase in weight, and many have seen a decrease in mobility. both circumstances are not pleasant for our physical and mental health.

working with many seniors and adults, I see the enormous impact of the pandemic and aging on their bodies. they become significantly weaker and their mental health goes down the drain. it creeps up on the body in a subtle way, but has a lasting affect.

sarcopenia has been an underlying factor in our seniors - not being able to move, decreases their ability go on walks for some fresh air, sunlight or even a change of scenery. muscle degeneration requires attention, consistency and some changes in your lifestyle. taking action sooner than later is best as muscle atrophy increases after the age of 70.

comorbidities that induce sarcopenia include organ failure, inflammatory diseases, cancer, and endocrine diseases.

THE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC

From rehabilitation to quality of life, I provide my clients with a realistic, approachable and fun way to regain their mobility.

During this pandemic, I have been working one-on-one with patients suffering from injuries, weight management difficulties and various chronic illnesses such as Parkinson’s.

Whether we like to admit to it or not, many people around us are going through some sort of difficulty. With the pandemic, these difficulties are amplified and can often be hard to seek help. As a health care professional working towards empowering individuals, I do whatever it takes to ensure that my clients are heard, respected and adequately cared for. Finding help during these times are challenging, but finding the right resources and health care professionals are the first steps.

Movement is medicine for the mind and body. As we work on our physical health, it inevitably positively effects our mental health too.

I would love to connect with you if you or someone you know are seeking help during these tough times♥️ DM me to chat!

ACCOUNTABILITY.

making plans, dreaming big and creating goals are great, but how do we make them happen? staying accountable.

I find myself giving up on things sooner when I don’t keep myself accountable for the new challenge I decided to embark on or the new goal I want to reach. often I caught my mind coming up with reasons to give up, finding excuses to say how its not possible (especially on those rough days) and I then saw myself drift away from my challenge or goal.

through the years I came across different tips that helped me stay accountable in various types of goals I was setting. some helped for personal goals and others helped for client-centered goals.

swipe to learn some tips that helped us stay accountable for what we decided to embark on. these tips can be applied to many different goals!

what are some tips you use to stay accountable?

Invest in yourself.

We often get side tracked as we go through the course of life. We want the biggest the house, the fastest car and a stress-free lifestyle. All of that is great, but what if that can be an added BONUS to our life. With a nourished body, relaxed mind and positive outlook, achieving those goals become easier and enjoyable for us. First steps:

1. Add Something New. For example, every month I try adding a new nutritional change into my diet. In the long run I would have experienced so many new changes and it will soon become a lifestyle.
2. Be Flexible. Our mind doesn’t like change. Be realistic on how and when it is okay to not follow this new change. For example, if I have a really long day, I won’t stress about not being able to get a workout in.
3. Slow & Steady. Over the years we have been conditioned to accept instant gratification from the world. With small changes everyday, throughout time you will begin to see the new changes in you, and that will be priceless.

For those of you who needed this reminder, I hope it helps! 🥰share now, save later.♥️
