After very in-depth research, I have been very impressed with Bitter Melon and its extensive benefits.
💚First and foremost, it lowers blood sugar significantly and improves insulin sensitivity. Bitter melon contains several bioactive compounds (Charantin, Vicine) including Polypeptide-p, a plant based insulin like compound, that mimics insulin activity, moving glucose from the bloodstream into the cells.
Other benefits of Bitter melon:
💚Very rich in antioxidants & flavonoids
💚Reduce oxidative stress
💚Support cellular health and regeneration
💚Stimulate digestive enzymes
💚Support digestion and gut health
💚Rich in vitamin C
💚Support immune function
💚Support blood circulation
💚Reduce LDL cholesterol naturally
💚Support heart health
💚Contain Momordicosides & cucurbitane-type triterpenoids with anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties
Bitter melon is well known for its bitter flavour. Including bitter foods in our diet is extreme important as the bitterness stimulates digestion by increasing enzyme and bile production, helping the body break down food more efficiently.
To enjoy the tea and mask the bitter flavour, I have combined it with other ingredients that also also offer additional anti-inflammatory properties. I will be posting the recipe next.
