YES, contrary to common advice about eliminating healthy carbohydrates to lower blood sugar levels, I consume a variety of healthy carbs—including fruits, starchy vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, and whole grains—without restrictions. I've followed this lifestyle for over a decade and have successfully maintained insulin sensitivity, along with healthy A1C and fasting insulin levels year after year.

In my mid-30s, after frequently hearing about the Paleo and keto diets, I decided to follow a Paleo (borderline keto) diet for approximately three years. During that time, by my late 30s, I developed insulin resistance and prediabetes, experiencing prolonged blood sugar spikes even after consuming small amounts of healthy carbohydrates.

YES, cold plungers have gained lots of attention and popularity, however, are they as effective as we may believe they are? 🤔

As a chemist I know and understand that science and research are a slow process and concrete results will be disclosed 10, 15 or 20 years after a specific claim has been made (ie, everything should be viewed as a hypothesis until a scientific conclusion is revealed). 📚

Introducing the body to short intervals of physical stress and shock are extremely beneficial, however, long emergence of cold plunges may put the body through vigourous stress that may become too much to handle, straining the body, the nervous system, the adrenals, the digestive system, and the hormones. 🥶

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, cold plunges are not recommended. For this is reasons, as a woman in my 40s who’s going through hormonal changes, I choose not to engage in any cold plunge in order to keep my body in a calm and equilibrium state. My favourite therapy right now is using my Infrared Sauna on a regular basis to support my Qi & Yin/Yang energy, kidney function, digestion, hormones and adrenals.
