Moments to Reflectโจ
During this busy holiday month letโs take a moment to remember to be kind to one another. Itโs very easy to get caught up in the shopping and gifting and preparing as we move through the holiday season.
Often times we move in haste, unaware of how we may impact other people, caught up in trying to check boxes on our list of things to do only to move onto another item on the list.
Late this morning I was stopped in my tracks by a small envelope sitting outside my front door with my name neatly printed on it โRobโ.
I had just wrapped up a couple of zoom meetings and was late as I headed to pick up my father to spend a few hours with him this afternoon in order to afford my mother the peace of mind that she could join her girlfriends for a Xmas lunch.
Obviously intrigued by this envelope I immediately looked around to see who would have placed this at my door and I started wondering what was in it?
As I read through the note and did a double take, again trying to process what was on the page , my heart swelled and my eyes teared up.
Sophia!!
A sweet beautiful little 5 year old girl with the prettiest little smile and most infectious little laugh who lives next door, had thought about me in a classroom exercise where she had to make matching turtle doves for someone she cares about.
She thought about me. ME!?
Of all the people in her life, friends at school, family members she has, what she remembered was a kind gesture, that Iโve done on multiple occasions, not for attention, not for notoriety or any kind of reciprocation. Just becauseโฆI can.
If this act of kindness can trigger this kind of response from a 5 year old. Imagine what each of us could accomplish with a simple acts of kindness for others this season.
Never in a million years would have guessed this responseโฆ this one probably means the most.
Humbled and grateful today to have made that kind of an impact on a beautiful little 5 year old who was watching me from the window! ๐
