So excited to announce an official booking page!! Tap on “Book Now” in our bio to reserve your spot for the free shuttle run services, we will try our best to host one session every two weeks. Our next session is October 10 at 9:00am, please RSVP using the booking site!!

There is also booking options for independent personal training sessions to prep specifically for your upcoming tests. Please DM us if you don’t see any dates/times that work with your availability and we will try to accommodate. All sessions are conducted outdoors for the time being so they are weather dependent.

Women’s only FREE shuttle run session this Friday!! Join us for a quick run and an opportunity to meet other women pursuing the same career as you.

Showing up consistently will ensure your progress in order to eventually reach your goals. Level 7 is possible for every female out there, it’s up to you to put the work in to get there🏃🏼‍♀️

It’s that time of the month again!!! Time to RSVP for the FREE women’s only practice shuttle run session. Due to varying schedules we decided to host next weeks run on two different date/times.

All women are encouraged to attend, regardless of your fitness ability or career choice. This is a fun event to challenge yourself and meet other women with similar fitness goals.

MONDAY MOTIVATION!

Physical activity is a great alternative to cope in a healthy way 🚴‍♂️ this will condition your body to resort in different forms of physical as opposed to any negative measures 👏🏽

When you work out or have your body moving 🏃🏽‍♀️ your brain releases endogenous cannabinoids which is a natural chemical that enhances your well being 🧠

The PREP test is part of the recruitment process for most police forces in Ontario. On laps two and four of the circuit you will be required to complete the body control stimulator. It is to stimulate the strength required when handling real people on the job. The weight being pushed/pulled is 32kg / 70lbs while wearing 18 lbs of the vest and belt.

Here are some tips on how to maintain good form while completing this step. By following these tips you will be able to save time in your circuit and preserve energy. For one on one advice on what you struggle with specifically please don’t hesitate to DM us with your questions. We are here to see everyone woman successful 🙌🏼

Happy Wednesday everyone ☀️ we are excited to announce a date for the next Women’s Practice Shuttle Run event. Please join us on August 14th @ 9 AM at the same location as last time (3200 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough) and bring your friends and family to run as well 🏃🏼‍♀️

You don’t have to be applying for a job in the law enforcement field to come out, this run can be done for fun and to test your own abilities 💪🏼

I want to take this time to quickly clarify that Athletic Island is not affiliated with any police service. We are a group of women supporting other women by providing extensive training and tips to those that are in the recruitment process or looking to apply.

Athletic Island has female trainers that have completed the PREP, FITCO and Shuttle Run Test first hand to give you the most accurate training possible. We do our best to stay up to date on information about the Ontario testing standards, if you find that there are any discrepancies please send us a DM and let us know!

We want to see more women on the force and for fitness to NEVER be a barrier, we believe every woman can do it 💪🏼💗

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced runner, try out these three simple runs that can be done throughout each week. It covers a variety of running types to ensure your endurance, speed, stamina and cardio are all being worked on.

Consistency is key!! I can’t stress that enough, it is inevitable to get better at something when you do it repeatedly. Stick to the routine, challenge yourself each week, and know that even if you are starting small or inexperienced that your hard work will pay off and you will see results over time 🏃🏼‍♀️⭐️

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid is a nutrient that is necessary for the growth, development and repairs of all body tissues. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects us against damages caused by harmful molecules called free radicals, as well as toxic chemicals and pollutants💨

Since our bodies don’t produce vitamin C we have to rely on our diet to meet our daily intake goal. It’s important not to exceed the safe upper limit of 2,000 milligrams a day to avoid an upset stomach and diarrhea.

In order for you to improve at running, you have to give your muscles time to recover. Since running is a high intensity exercise, you have the potential to over-train and do damage to your body. For most beginner runners, it is recommended to run three to four days a week on alternating days!
