Lets talk Holiday Parties.

Its the middle of November, which means you may have already started attending some Holiday events. As December approaches and the parties are lined up, many of our clients want to hit the "pause" button on their health and fitness goals, and consider December a complete write off.

Because how can you sleep well, nourish your body with wholesome foods, and workout when you have 15 parties lined up?

Hold on.

Lets do the math.

There are approximately 50 days left in 2021. How many of those days are you actually at a Holiday Event?

Take the number of days you actually have a party or event to attend. Divide this number by 50 then multiply by 100.

This will give you the percent of time that you will be at a party for the remainder of the year. If you have 10 parties to attend, this means only 20% of the rest of the year will be spent on parties (and this is high, because parties don't last ALL DAY).

So really, you may be looking at 5% of the remainder of 2021 spent at parties.

How is this a write-off?

Let's go a little deeper into this reality check, and look at the amount of days remaining in 2021 that you are NOT attending a function. This will be high.

This is when you get real with yourself.

Is it nearly impossible to train, eat nourishing foods, and sleep well over the holidays???

Or is it simply an excuse to "eat and drink whatever you want" for several weeks.

Lets change the verbiage.

If you tend to say I'm going to completely let go and pause taking care of myself because it's the holidays, then jump back to the math. The holidays are only a couple of days in the grand scheme of things, and you truly have PLENTY of time to stay on track and work towards your health goals.

Don't write yourself off.

You got this.

And with the right support - you will be able to enjoy the holidays, all while continuing to keep your health a priority.

Have you considered the Holidays a "write-off" in the past?

Are you already planning your holidays? Will you be hosting family, keeping it small, or travelling?

Regardless of your plans, one thing remains the same - the holidays typically mean more alcohol, more decadent food, meals out, more treats, desserts, chocolate, and often bring more stress, less sleep, and more body fat.

Thats why we created the Holiday Survival Guide; complete with delicious recipes, meal plan structure, hangover remedy, the science behind Carb Backloading,
a 3-day Metabolic Workout plan, and SO MUCH MORE.

Here is one of my favourite recipes straight out of our Holiday Survival Recipe Guide.

Give this Breakfast Sweet Potato & Asparagus Frittata a try this holiday season if you need to make a big batch of breakfast for your family!

➡️ Ingredients:

1 1/2 tablespoons avocado oil (divided)
2 medium sweet potato, cubed (about 1/2-1 inch pieces) (3 1/2 cups/430 grams)
2 cups roughly chopped asparagus (200 grams)
1 14-ounce can quartered artichokes hearts, drained
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon cumin
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
12 large organic eggs
3 ounces goat cheese
salt and pepper, to taste
optional garnishes: avocado, fresh cilantro, hot sauce

➡️ Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Heat a large enameled cast iron, cast iron, or oven-safe pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon oil and let it get hot, about 30 seconds. Add sweet potatoes with some salt and pepper and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add remaining avocado oil and add asparagus, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper. Sauté for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until asparagus is al dente. Add artichoke hearts to cast iron and stir to incorporate.
While the asparagus cooks, whisk the eggs with 2/3 of the goat cheese and salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add egg mixture to the pan, making sure it distributes evenly. Sprinkle with remaining goat cheese.

Let cook for 2-3 minutes until bottom sets. Place in oven and cook for 20-25 minutes until eggs are firm.

Cut into 6 pieces and serve with avocado, cilantro, and/or hot sauce if desired.

Enjoy!
