Continuing with our Black History Month feature topic, we focus on the experiences of Black families and their stories.

This mama had two very different experiences for her births. The first was less positive than the second and they were both under different care structures but both ended in c-section. 

The proper support can really help a family during a life changing milestone like welcoming a baby.

Regardless of whether you have a doctor/OB GYN or midwife, a doula is an asset to your existing care team.

We can help focus on the families needs, worries, wants and any other details while the rest of the health care team takes care of everything on the medical side.

It doesn’t matter what kind of birth you end up having, it could be a homebirth, waterbirth, hospital birth, induced birth, scheduled c-section, medicated, unmedicated etc. 🥰

What matters is that you are respected, supported in your choices, are given options and have the knowledge to birth with confidence. 🌌

Doula’s provide judgement free care that is 100% directed by the client(s). Whether you have specific needs and wants or if you just need someone to talk to -we are here to help, support and empower. 💜

As part of our feature topic, here is a quote from a mother about her two similar birth experiences. In both of her birth stories she felt alone, under cared for, and ultimately mistreated despite her desires for a more positive birthing experience. 🌌🌌🌌

Understanding your rights and being well supported can be crucial in how you experience birth. 💜

Research shows that having a Doula present during labour, reduces the need for: pitocin, pain medication or cesarean. 🤰🏽🤰🏻🤱🏿👩🏼‍🍼👩🏽‍⚕️🧑🏻‍⚕️💉🩺
