Most people think these 3 things are helping their thyroid... but they’re actually doing the opposite 😵‍💫

I see these mistakes daily, and they are usually the reason why women are still feeling exhausted despite "doing all the right things." Here’s why these are on my hard no list:

1️⃣ Coffee on an empty stomach: Coffee before food spikes your cortisol, stresses your adrenals, and worsens insulin resistance. Always eat protein before your caffeine ☕️🍳

2️⃣ Accepting ‘normal’ TSH as ‘optimal’: Standard lab ranges are massive. You can be at a 4.2 and be told you’re "fine" while your hair is falling out and you’re exhausted. For preventative, proactive health… we need to look for optimal (usually 0.5-2.0).

3️⃣ “Thyroid Support” complexes: These often contain everything but the kitchen sink 😅. They typically contain iodine (which can flare Hashimoto’s), herbs that aren’t well researched for hashi’s, and not enough of the nutrients that actually matter.

Stop settling for "normal" and start looking for the root cause.

If you’re done with the 'wait and see' approach and you’re ready to get all the answers you’ve been looking for to actually heal your thyroid from the inside out, the 12-week Heal My Thyroid Blueprint was built for you. You deserve to feel energized again!

This tool is a total thyroid game changer… 😍

If you’ve ever looked at your bloodwork and been told everything looks "fine," yet you’re still losing hair, struggling with brain fog, and can’t get through the day without a nap—you aren’t crazy.

The truth is, standard lab ranges are massive. They are designed to catch disease, not to help you thrive. Plus, those generic ranges don’t take into account:

✅ Your age
✅ If you’re trying to conceive / are pregnant
✅ If you’re already on thyroid medication (and which kind!)
✅ Your specific antibody status

I’m tired of seeing women told to "wait and see" until their numbers get worse. You deserve to know what optimal looks like for your unique body, right now.

That’s why I built the Thyroid Lab Analyzer ✨

It’s a completely free tool I designed to give you a clinical, evidence-based look at your numbers. You can use it every single time you get bloodwork back to see if you’re actually in the optimal range.

Preventative health means having the data to act before things get worse.

Is a "normal" TSH keeping you from getting the help you need? 📉🤔

It is incredibly frustrating to feel exhausted and deal with chronic headaches or skin issues, only to be told your labs are perfectly “normal." If your doctor is only checking your TSH, they are only looking at one piece of a very complex puzzle.

TSH is a brain hormone, not a thyroid hormone. To truly understand how your thyroid is performing, you need to see the full picture. This includes looking at your actual circulating hormones like Free T3 and Free T4, as well as checking for antibodies that could indicate an autoimmune process like Hashimoto’s.

You shouldn't have to wait for an endocrinologist referral just to get a basic screening. Your GP has the ability to order these tests, but you often have to be the one to ask for them. Knowing what to look for is the first step in getting the answers you actually deserve.

If you have Hashimoto’s, there is a 92% chance your Vitamin D levels are too low 📉☀️ (PMID: 21751884)

Vitamin D acts more like a hormone in the body than a vitamin. It tells your immune system to stay calm.

When your levels are low, your immune system is more likely to stay in attack mode, leading to higher antibodies and more thyroid damage.

Research shows that an incredible 92% of people with Hashimoto’s are deficient in vitamin D.

Most people are chronically under-supplementing. Taking what seems like a standard dose but if often just enough to keep you in a deficient range for months or even years. You aren't actually moving the needle; you are just treading water.

Since Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, you shouldn’t just guess what dosage to take. If you take too little, you won't see any change in your symptoms. If you take too much without monitoring, it can become an issue.

You need to know your exact blood levels so you can dose specifically for your body. The goal is to get into the OPTIMAL range where your immune system can actually find some balance. This is between 120-150 nmol/L.

Signs your vitamin D may be too low:

• Constant fatigue
• A low mood or anxiety
• Joint and muscle pain
• High thyroid antibodies
• Immune crashes

Is your period problem actually a thyroid problem? 🩸📉

Irregular periods and Hashimoto’s go hand in hand more often than people realize. Because your thyroid regulates the energy production for every cell in your body, your reproductive system is often one of the first things to take a hit when your levels are low.

One of the biggest connections is through the liver. When your thyroid is slow, your liver’s ability to clear out estrogen also slows down. This can lead to estrogen dominance, which often causes heavy, painful, or irregular cycles and can even interfere with healthy ovulation.

If you are dealing with irregular me**es, it is your body’s way of sounding an alarm. Instead of just treating the symptoms, we have to look at the master controller, your thyroid, to get your hormones back on track.

Is your workout helping or hurting your thyroid? 🏃🏻🏋🏻

There is a lot of conflicting advice about exercise and Hashimoto’s, but it really comes down to avoiding the extremes.

On one hand, pushing through high intensity training without supporting your nervous system or eating enough protein is a recipe for thyroid burnout. It puts too much stress on a system that is already working overtime.

On the other hand, doing nothing but very gentle movement means you miss out on the massive benefits of strength. Building muscle mass is one of the best things you can do for your metabolism and long term health. The key is finding a controlled challenge; getting your heart rate up and lifting weights in a way that leaves you feeling energized, not depleted.

Should you actually be avoiding soy if you have Hashimotos? 🧐🌱 (PMID: 31086111)

There is a lot of fear around soy in the thyroid community, but a comprehensive meta analysis tells a much different story.

The research shows that soy consumption has no significant effect on Free T3 or Free T4 levels. Actually, the broader data shows that soy has some pretty impressive health perks. It is linked to:

👉🏼Lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol
👉🏼Improving bone density in postmenopausal women
👉🏼Reducing the risk of certain cancers such as breast and prostate cancer

One of the biggest takeaways is that soy isoflavones are not classified as endocrine disruptors based on human studies. For most people, moderate soy intake is perfectly safe and can even be a health promoter.

If you have been cutting out foods based on fear instead of facts, it is time to look at the actual data.

If you are ready for a plan that takes the guesswork out of your health, I can help.

Is your leg swelling related to your hypothyroidism? Yup 🦵⚠️

If you’ve experienced heavy, painful swelling in your legs that doesn't seem to go away with rest, you might be dealing with myxedema. This isn't your typical bloating. In hypothyroidism, specific molecules can build up in your tissues and trap water, leading to that characteristic doughy and uncomfortable swelling.

This happens because the body doesn't have enough thyroid hormone to keep metabolic processes moving correctly. While it’s tempting to look for a quick supplement fix for the pain, myxedema is a systemic signal. It’s your body’s way of saying your current thyroid management might not be hitting the mark.

To truly stop the flare ups and the pain, we have to look at the root cause: your thyroid levels. Once your hormones are optimized and reaching your tissues effectively, the swelling can finally start to resolve.

If you feel like you are 6 months pregnant after every meal, this could be why 🛑🌬️

There is a massive connection between your gut and your thyroid that most doctors never mention. It is called SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), and it is exactly what it sounds like: bacteria from your large intestine migrating up into your small intestine where they don’t belong.

The research is clear:

• 54% of people with hypothyroidism have SIBO (PMID: 17698907, PMID: 40908532)
• 65% of people with hypothyroidism who have "IBS" symptoms actually have SIBO (PMID: 38490469)

When your thyroid is sluggish, your digestion slows down. This slow motility means food sits in your gut longer, creating the perfect breeding ground for bacteria to overgrow. This leads to that painful, rock-hard bloating, gas, and nutrient deficiencies.

You can eat the perfect diet and take all the thyroid meds in the world, but if you don't address the bacterial overgrowth, the bloating and the fatigue won't go away. On the flip side, once you clear the SIBO, if you don’t address the hypothyroidism, then it’ll come back. It’s a two way street.

This is exactly why focusing on the gut-thyroid axis is key. You can’t heal the thyroid in a vacuum while your digestive system is at a standstill.

If you are ready to stop guessing and start a strategy that actually addresses the root cause of your symptoms, I can help.

Why supplements alone won’t fix your fatigue 💊🥱

It is so common to keep adding more supplements to the cabinet hoping one will finally be the magic pill for your energy. But supplements are only designed to be supplemental to the core foundations of your health.

If you are struggling with daily fatigue and feeling like you’re constantly zoning out, your body is telling you that something is wrong. We tend to normalize being exhausted, but it’s actually a major red flag that your gut, liver, or nervous system needs real support.

Taking vitamins without knowing your actual data is just guesswork. To get your energy back, you have to move past the symptoms and look at a full lab panel to identify your unique root cause. Supplements can help bridge the gap, but they can't fix a foundation that hasn't been addressed.

You can absolutely improve your body composition without counting calories or following unsustainable diets 💪🏼 (PMID: 36999863)

This study followed women with Hashimotos or PCOS for 10 weeks to see how a Mediterranean diet and exercise impacted their health. The participants followed an ad libitum diet, meaning they were allowed to eat until they were full without any caloric restriction. They also incorporated 150 to 300 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise each week.

The results for the Hashimotos group were impressive. Even without cutting calories, they saw significant improvements in their BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage. The PCOS group and the healthy control group also saw significant benefits in their weight and body composition.

This research highlights that for those of us with Hashimotos, it is not just about eating less. It is about eating the right foods to support your metabolism and lower inflammation. When you give your body the right signals, it can start to shift into a healthier state naturally.

If you are ready for a plan that takes the guesswork out of your health, I can help.
