Thought I would introduce myself with a few fun facts:
I’m a Naturopathic Doctor working at 3 clinics in Ontario and act as a teaching assistant for an intravenous vitamin therapy course.
1) I played a LOT of sports growing up. My favourite was Gymnastics
2) I have completed 2 full marathons.
3) Love traveling and hiking. Some of my favourite places include Iceland, New Zealand and, more locally, Collingwood, Ontario.
4) I broke 2 fingers playing football while studying to get my Master’s of Science.
5) I’m a big believer in paying it forward. To do good deeds for others and it will multiply.
6) I am a HUGE STAR WARS FAN! And don’t get me started on my obsession with Grogu/Baby Yoda.
7) I have my Master’s of Science in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences.
8) I received 2 summer Scholarships; one to do research on diabetes & breast cancer at the MaRS Centre in Toronto and the other to study Group A Streptococcus infections.

Simple tips to ease the body into changing seasons and colder temperatures:
✅Eat vegetables that are in season. Think root veggies! That means beets, carrots, onions, garlic, potatoes, turnips, parsnips etc.
✅Ditch the cold smoothies! Warm foods are easier for the body to process in colder temperatures, aiding digestion and stimulating circulation. This does not just include stir fry, soups and stews. Spices like turmeric, cinnamon and ginger can also be warming for the body.
✅Cover the back of your neck with turtlenecks and scarves. In traditional Chinese Medicine, Feng Men, which means “wind gate”, is located at the back of your neck and it is vulnerable to pathogens which can cause colds and flus.
✅Consider Change of Season Soup to strengthen your immunity. It consists of 4 tonifying herbs including: Astragalus membranaceus, Codonopsis pilosula, Dioscorea opposita and Lyciium barbarum.

I see it often in blood work especially during the winter months - low Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a number of concerns from mood changes, bone loss and fatigue to getting sick more frequently.
So how do you raise your Vitamin D levels quickly if you are low? Injections that go into the muscle (intramuscular) which can provide a high dose of Vitamin D.
Vitamin D injections are especially great for individuals who have poor intestinal absorption and aren’t benefiting from oral supplementation.
Recent lab tests are required for injection. Depending on levels, anywhere from 2-4 injections may be recommended.
