This month is National Drug Drop-Off Month, the perfect time to remind our patients how to safely dispose of old medications and medical “sharps” (like syringes). Safe medication disposal is important to ensure that old, expired or no longer needed medications are not accidentally used or intentionally misused. Safely disposing medication also ensures that unnecessary chemicals and products are not released into the environment.

Last year, Canadian pharmacies collected:

💊 330,274 kilograms of unwanted medications

💉 452,203 kilograms of used medical sharps
