🌟Cultivate your energy in 2025🌟

As we transition into the new year, I want to share with you one of my favourite practices these days. It’s the energy cultivation system called Qigong. I first learned it in Chinese Medicine school twenty five years ago, and have since rekindled my love for it. Qigong is a wonderful movement tool you can add to your self-care and healing practices, helping you unblock and circulate your energy flow.

It’s also one of the few practices you can do when you’re injured or not feeling well; I always feel both calm and energized after practicing it!

Are you in need of a mind-body reset?

A retreat is an amazing way to hit the reset button by temporarily stepping away from the regular day-to-day responsibilities of our lives and taking care of the needs of our body and spirit. We do regular yoga, movement and meditation sessions, eat delicious food, play, rest, go for walks, swim, and enjoy nature. This brings calm to the body, which allows the mind space to expand. Then we come back into our lives with this fresh perspective and renewed energy. We have more to give back to our life, work and relationships because we’re not trying to pour from an empty cup 🫗😬

Engaging in things that put you out of your comfort zone, challenge you to find the playfulness in stressful situations and be more creative and adaptable as things unfold in real time is hugely enriching and something that makes me feel happy to be alive!

This weekend I had the honour of receiving my purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from my couches JM and Matt at . This is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done, and also one of the most rewarding.

I can’t say enough positive things about the atmosphere of learning, camaraderie and community that they foster at the gym, making it both hard and joyful at the same time. A supportive training environment makes all the difference when you’re facing your fears and doing difficult things.

Thank you to all my training partners and coaches for pushing me out of my comfort zone and helping me grow everyday.

PLAYFUL MOVEMENT JAM
In this class we'll discover how play nurtures curiosity, deepens listening, sparks creativity, fosters adaptability, and strengthens cooperation. We'll take our practice beyond our yoga mats as we cultivate neurological resilience, improve communication, and translate our movement practice into diverse contexts. Some topics we'll explore playfully: coordinations, locomotion patterns, body communication, task based movement situations.
The only prerequisites for this class are a sense of curiosity and a willingness to play!

Hey Victoria! Join me for the next Master Class this Saturday where we’ll dive deep into safe preparations and progressions for the “king” and “queen” of the asanas… headstand and shoulder stand.

I love these postures! They feel both fun and therapeutic. But there are no two postures with more controversy surrounding them! I know many teachers and practitioners who have simply stopped doing these postures, which is a shame because although there are risks associated with doing them, when they’re approached with respect and care, they can be very beneficial and empowering.

Really looking forward to this workshop.

ASANA MASTER CLASS 🤩ca 

Getting excited about this Saturday's master class exploring the fundamentals of effective arm balancing poses.

We’ll start with a deep dive into our push-up position (chaturanga dandasana) because of how often we do this movement in vinyasa yoga, and because it sets a solid foundation, limiting the risk of injury and building capacity for more advanced movements. We’ll look at key preparations for the wrists, shoulders and core that lead to effective progressions in all arm balancing postures. 

At a deeper level our practice becomes more advanced when we master the fundamentals.

In this class because we’ll be working progressively, all levels of experience are welcome!

I’m getting very excited about this series starting this week!
Qigong is a practice I’ve come back to a lot over the years after initially learning it in acupuncture college 25 years ago as one of the 5 main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
It’s such a beautiful way to practice energetic hygiene, create more grace and smoothness in our everyday movements, and cultivate a deeper sense of presence and calm.

In this series you'll be introduced to the fundamental practices in the graceful and healing tradition of Qigong, or 'Energy Cultivation". These essential practices will make a great compliment to a well-rounded yoga practice, helping you create greater smoothness, flow, and ease in your movements.

You'll learn:

-How to cultivate and harness the incredible potential of your body's energy systems.

-The relationship between energetic hygiene and vitality.

-Essential Qigong Warm-Ups and Joint Mobilizations.

-Qigong practices for the Five Elements and healing forms for the vital organs of the Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lungs, and Kidneys.

-Movement practices can be done at any level, including when healing or injured.

-How to move with greater ease, smoothness, and grace.
