For this Witch-Crafting Night we will be sitting with the darkness and finding our light through traditional dip candle making. Creating intention candles through group ritual will support us in calling in what we are longing for in our lives. Like a beacon in the night, our intention candles will help guide our desires to us.

Friday, February 9th marks a new moon and the lunar new year, the perfect time to set our intentions in motion and witness their growth throughout the lunar cycle.

As I reflect on our Solstice gathering last night and I look at the wreath I crafted, I’m moved by the magic of belonging. Whether that is a sense of belonging within our families, communities, ancestries, or world, the need to be a part of something bigger that ourselves is deeply rooted in us.

My wreath feels powerful and beautiful in and of itself, but part of the power is also in the memory of my wreath as a part of the circle of wreaths that we created last night. Photos couldn’t do the moment justice, when we sat in the candlelit darkness after our ritual and witnessed the profound beauty of our collective creativity. After a night of story telling, sharing wisdom, working with our hands, and moving together in ritual, the magic in the air was palpable, and nourished me beyond measure.

My intention for the year ahead is to continuing creating spaces that honour my own needs and desires alongside the collective. Hosting the events that I want to attend and following what I’m hungry for feels like a wonderful way to build a career that feeds me in many ways.

I’ll be taking a break from posting for a week or so, but stay tuned for an announcement about my next Witch-Crafting night soon! (Hint: we’ll be lighting up the darkness with our crafting)

For me, Solstice is a time of slowing down, reflecting, and gathering with community to mark the end (and beginning) of the solar year. Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year, and the moment when we begin to welcome the light back in.

For this offering, I envision us coming together in the warmth and darkness to enjoy good company, share our stories, honour the wisdom we’ve gained over the past year, and connect to our hope and desires for the year ahead.

I’ve been really enjoying gathering the materials for this Witch-Crafting night. Laughing as I fill my pockets with pine cones and other treasures. It’s a familiar feeling for me, something I’ve been doing most of my life for my own crafts, and now I’m excited to share these treasures with you and witness as you transform them into something even more magical.
