CONTEST! - FLASH CALL For Cover Art Submissions for Inaugural Issue!

This is a contest to have your work featured on Issue 1 of The Mad Times!

We've decided we'd like a cover image, as we can use unlimited images on the website version. Mad Times is a space for you to share your Mad art and creativity. We are holding a cover contest for our inaugural issue. The theme is universal: this is an introduction. We are thinking about... beginnings, initial psych experiences, Mad Pride, newspaper style.
Art that incorporates "Mad Times" is favourable, but everything and anything will be considered.

Please note:

-We need the highest resolution electronic images you can provide.
-We will only select one cover image but we may include your image inside the magazine.
-We will also try to publish your art on our website. (You retain copyright over your image...)

DEADLINE is JANUARY 31st!

Submitting work for consideration is easy. Email us samples of your work (high res JPG files), along with a short bio (Do you identify as Mad, consumer survivor, psych survivor or otherwise been in the psychiatric system?), and a description of the work.
Please include the following with your submission:
• Your Name (and company name if you have one)
• Contact information (Phone, Cell, Email)
• Website (if you have one)
Email submissions to: madtimestoronto@gmail.com
There will be another round of calls for future issues. We appreciate your hard work. We are all volunteers. We will have a longer lead time for future issues.

This is an opportunity for activists to participate in an international publication (based in Toronto, Canada).

MAD Pride volunteers in Toronto have been teaming up to devise a publication to represent our community! "The Mad Times" will be launched near the end of January 2017.

The purpose of this publication will be to provide an open platform, free and available source of communication and distribution for our community - whatever the breadth and width of that may come to encompass. The format of this publication is similar to a "Zine" - the content will be at once humorous and academic, poetic and informative. This project was inspired by the Consumer/Survivor bulletin. We will be distributing both an online and free paper version of 'The Mad Times'.

This page will be posting open calls for submissions and papers, completely open to the public at large - An excellent opportunity for activists, artists, writers, poets, ranters and philosophers alike.

Anyone who has any interest in Mad pride, Mad Studies, Mental Health activism, Peer Support, c/s politics, individuality, freedom...and/or the human condition should definitely take this opportunity. (i.e All of you!). We encourage international participation - please share this post with your friends who may be interested!

Please send an email to madtimestoronto@gmail.com, or send a message to this page, and we will swiftly add you to our subscriber list. You may also contact us with inquiries.

The first issue will be an Introduction to Mad Pride Toronto and what madness we've been up to. Our vision and mission statements will be posted shortly.
