How was your summer?
Let me summarize mine in pictures.
1. June 21st -after 7 months and a ton of money later, I finally have my natural colour hair.
2. June 22nd- after a few months of some weird and vague symptoms I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
3. I have had to temporarily close my massage therapy practice due to pain.
4. I was supposed to book a flight to Nova Scotia to visit a dear friend. She sent me flowers instead.
5. July 25th- the day after major abdominal surgery.
6. Not exactly the Club Med wristband I was hoping for.
But my little 7yr old friend made me a purple bracelet to make me feel better.
7. July 29th - I’m smiling because I get to go home a couple of days earlier than expected. Thank goodness as I had the 2 roommates from hell.
8. Ah, that’s better! My feet look like my feet again! My toes were a couple of weeks without polish!
9. Me with my big brother.
Got my hair cut short for the inevitable. I will look just like him in a few weeks 😂
10. August 25th- first round of chemo done.
I have lived my life as healthy as possible, and yet this monster still grew inside me.
I am so grateful for my friends and family who have supported and cared for me and continue to do so.
I am grateful to have a wonderful GP who believed me and got me the tests I needed.
I am grateful that we have a facility such as Sunnybrook which is rated #2 hospital in Canada and #22 in the world, basically on my doorstep which has been the best hospital experience of my life.
Every single person there has been so kind and compassionate while giving me the best care possible.
Hug your people, tell them you love them, and fight fiercely for the life you deserve.
And if you have any spare good thoughts, send them my way.🩷
