🌌New Workshop Alert🌌 I am so excited about this!

I am so excited to announce that I will be hosting a special 5 series workshop with a very beautiful and talented yoga teacher, Christine called Embody the Elements. 🌌

Christine and I have been pouring our love into combining our talents for this series. In Embody the Elements, we will be exploring the 5 elements, as observed in Traditional Chinese Medicine, through the practice of yin yoga, the hands on healing of reiki and soothing and balancing the nervous system with the beautiful grounding sounds of crystal sound bowls. 😍

📅 Starting October 21st from 7-9pm, ending December 16th.

I'm very excited I will be holding a Yin Immersion Workshop ~ Journey Through the Elements.

🗓 Friday May 6th // 6-8pmyoga

In this 2hr Yin Yoga Immersion I will guide you through a yin yoga practice that will focus on understanding and balancing the 5 Elements that are observed within Traditional Chinese Medicine. We will look into how we can use these elements as part of a ‘Nourishing Cycle’ to nourish our being, our body, our life and also how yin yoga can help us do that.

I will offer a sprinkle of Thai Yoga Massage to support each element. By the end of this workshop you will leave feeling balanced with a real connection to the elements and you will feel well rested.😴

It's been a minute...

I've had a negative attitude towards social media and the yoga community lately.

This is a reminder I am still here. Still teaching. Still practicing. But choosing to be fully embraced in it and not feeling the need to share any of it has helped my connection to the practice.

Where you can practice with me has not changed...

Wednesdays - Yin - 5-615pm
Thursdays - Vinyasa - 6-7pmyoga

If you need to slow down & relieve stress, come for the yin. If you need to move, release energy, come for the vinyasa.

What a yin yoga class is really like....🔮

Most students that show up to my yin classes come for the physical release. To reverse their bodies from sitting at a desk all day and to release stress build up in the body.

What some will come to realize, that build up stress is often linked to held emotions. When we release the physical body we also release the emotion that is stagnant with it..

And that space in-between is where the magic of yin resides.🌌

I always tell new students - yin is the hardest yoga practice you will do, but it is the one most needed 💜

Is alignment in a yoga posture really that important?🤔

It depends...

If it's for the safety of your joints and structure - absolutely!💡

If it is merely esthetic or tradition - I tend to disagree.

The more I practice yoga the less I care about traditionally where my feet and arms should go and more focus of how it feels in my body. As a teacher I advocate for safety of course, but also to continously listening to the body each step of the way, if the pose doesn't feel good adjust.

We do not use the body to get into the pose; we use the pose to get into the body. - Bernie Clarke💫

We are all blessed with unique skeletons and body structures, a pose that benefits one person might cause discomfort to another.😕

What Can You Say 'NO' To This Week?🤔

Are you someone that says "yes" to everything? Then next thing you know you don't have a free moment to yourself?... Guilty✋ Saying yes to everything is the fastest way to burn out!

Practice this...
▪️say “no” to events that don't bring you absolute joy
▪️say "no" to things that don't align with your values
▪️say "no" to that job
▪️say "no" to things that impact your mental health in a negative way
▪️say "no" to anything that creates fear
▪️say "no" to that person

Know your limits! There's no need to put energy into things that only cause you more stress! 🚫

Saying no is HARD. You want to be known as someone who is dependable, capable, and has all their ish together, but you feel like you’re letting someone down or falling short when you say no.

The Metal Element ⚫ - Your breath is the connection between your outside world and inside world.

What are you processing right now?

Metal is all about the organ, the lungs. Your lungs being the point of contact between your outside world and your inside world. It symbolizes this relationship of our connection to the world around us. 🫁🌲

During this time of Metal it is all about processing change and grief. Take time to let go of old habits, ways of thinking anything you want to let go of that you have been hanging on to. 💫

Yin Yoga is like a Hot Bath at the End of a Long Day🛁

For the past year and half this has been my favourite style of yoga to practice and teach. This is why you may need yin too...

Yin Yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. 💀

It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.🧘‍♀️

Poses are held for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga.

Teaches you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

In my opinion Yin Yoga is the perfect practice if you need to relieve stress or as a complimentary practice to any yang style discipline (sports, martial arts, running, cycling, weight lifting ect) to down regulate the nervous system. Our bodies need all the movements, all of the ways - including long held, soothing postures.

What are your core values? Aka the rules you live your life by.
Did you know living out of alignment with your core values can cause burnout? I didn't either.😯

Spend some time, write down a few words that encompass what is important to you and WHY they are so important and what they MEAN to you! Narrow it down to 3-5 words.📖
Freedom
Health
Serenity
Exploration
Love
ect....

Ask yourself...
Does this value represent how I show up in the world?
Is this value something I stand for?
Would I be okay if this value wasn’t very present in my life?

Look at your values and look at aspects of your life. Are you living in alignment with your values? Be brutally honest with yourself. You may find that you have a value that isn't embraced by others. Honor it anyway. When you are crystal clear about your values, making the right decisions becomes easier and you avoid the stress and emotional burnout that results.😌💕

What are the little moments that put a smile on your face? 😌

If you have been struggling to find moments of hope, of happiness in the midst of this chaotic word, you are not alone.

I invite you to look for the little things in your life that bring you joy, that put a smile on your face, that bring you happiness. Maybe it's the warmth of the sun on your face, fresh picked food from your garden, a conversation with a friend or your relationship with God. Whatever it is - write it down, take a photo.

It's the appreciation of the little things that make them part of the important things. I've felt the anger, the sadness. I've felt the division and experienced the cruelness in people. I hang on to these little moments for hope and when I do there is nothing but content and peace.
