I got to talk about my favourite topic on TV yesterday!

Back to basics health tips for 2026.

Simplify your dietary goals - eat the rainbow, pair protein & fibre with each meal, and chew your food twice as long as you think you need to!

Move your body - at least 150 mins of moderate intensity activity per week - walking is a perfect activity (50% of Canadians aren’t doing this).

Treat your nervous system like a vital organ and practice improving your response to stress.

Inflammation is almost always the cause of and is certainly a contributor to dysmenorrhea or painful periods.

While it’s perfectly normal to experience mild cramping, anything intense enough to increase dependence on analgesic pharmaceuticals should be addressed. While these drugs can often successfully manage pain in the short term, they could be also doing harm. NSAIDs have been shown to interfere with fertility, disrupt gastrointestinal health and may increase risk of heart attack or stroke.

Simple ways to limit exposure:

⭐️Never heat foods in plastic containers or store hot foods in plastic containers.
⭐️Limit the use of take out coffee cups.
⭐️Use reusable stainless steel water bottles.
⭐️Choose glass vs plastic for baby bottles.
⭐️Be wary of labels that say “BPA-free” manufacturers may have simply replaced BPA with BPS, a close cousin with a similar risk profile.
⭐️Give up chewing gum.

You don’t need to be fixed, you’re not flawed, your body isn’t broken.

Your health strategy is supposed to evolve with you.

You can’t expect what worked 5 years ago to work now. You’ve changed.

Does your health strategy reflect your current goals, weight, lifestyle, diet, environment, exercise habits, nutrient intake?

Does it reflect how you manage stress?

Does it consider how much restful sleep you’re getting?

Has it evolved to manage your negative patterns and triggers?

If your health plan ISN’T updated to reflect your life, it’s not just an inconvenience it’s a waste of time, resources and opportunity cost of how well you could be feeling when resources are directed in the right ways.

Endo has kicked my butt (uterus) many times over the years. It’s caused incredible pain - mentally and physically, it’s caused me to faint, crawl on public bathroom floors, land in the emergency room, and even made a special little comeback right as I started trying to get pregnant. Isn’t she so special that way?

Having endometriosis sucks but it doesn’t have to suck all the time and there are so many strategies we can implement to make things hurt less and work better... whether that means better digestion, better energy and/or better fertility.

These are the 6 steps I use to help myself and my patients manage endometriosis naturally.

I’ve been bursting into tears all day. I’m inclined to say that this is unlike me but the truth is I’ve become much more emotional since having children.

I remember when this life I envisioned was just a wish and uncertain one for a long, long time.

Feeling beyond blessed and grateful.
