What's going on, social fam? I get these questions a lot.
What is Fascia? What is FST, and what are the benefits?
What is Fascia:
Fascia is a web-like network of connective tissue that surrounds and interpenetrates all parts of the body, including muscles, bones, organs (including your skin), nerves, and blood vessels. It provides structure, support, and enables all body systems to function together. Fascia is a key component of the body's functional structure and plays a role in movement, posture, and proprioception (sensory awareness of your body/tissue).
What is FST:
Fascial Stretch Therapy primarily targets the fascia. The connective tissue network that surrounds muscles, organs, and other structures in the body listed above.
The Technique:
It involves a series of guided assisted stretches. Practioneers work with their clients' breath and tissue to help them release tension, adhensions, and restrictions to aid and restore flexibility in the fascia.
The Goal:
Is to improve flexibility, range of motion, and joint mobilty with the fascia. The purpose is to reduce muscle tension by addressing sticky areas, stuck tissue, or "glued tissue" in the fascial network.
The Benefits:
Can help with chronic pain, stiffness, muscular soreness, joint mobility (level 2 and up), stress, emotional blockades, and help improve overall body function by addressing the underlying fascial issues.
