Each year, we offer this grant as a small gesture of gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples of Canada for sharing this land and for inspiring our beginnings through the community’s kindness, healing traditions, and connection to nature’s magic.

This year, one Indigenous-owned business in Canada will receive $20,000 to support growth, materials, marketing, start-up costs, or any other business expenses.

We’re thrilled to congratulate Tracy Persson, founder of My Breast Day, as our 2024 Indigenous Business Grant recipient!

We’re also excited to award memberships to the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) to our two runner-ups: Amanda Bernard, founder of Shawish Market, and Casey Desjarlais, co-founder of Decolonial Clothing.

Applications for our Fifth Annual Indigenous Business Grant are now open! This year, we are thrilled to announce that we will provide $15,000 to one Indigenous individual to pursue their dream of starting or growing a business.

The summer before nomz began, our founder, Jana, had the incredible opportunity to spend time with the Moose Cree First Nation in Moose Factory, Ontario. This transformative experience was filled with beauty, learning, and growth.

Inspired by that summer, Jana knew she wanted to create something to give back to the people and places that had such a profound impact on her. The nomz grant is our way of saying thank you to the Indigenous people of Canada for sharing this beautiful and precious land with us and for inspiring the inception of our company through their kindness, healing traditions, and the magic of nature.

From our ingredients to our design, we like to keep things simple. Minimal ingredients that we proudly list on the front of our package: nuts, dates, cocoa, coconut oil, and sea salt – that’s it. We keep our packaging design minimal too, communicating only what’s needed. Nothing less, nothing more.
