As promised, the rest of Kellye's story.
"Rewind time a little. In 2021 I lost all stability in my ankle and was fitted for a prosthetic ankle brace. At times I used a cane. I also got some trekking poles. I have bone marrow edema in my right ankle, partial neuropathy, and drop foot. After a few months of the AFO ankle brace, I decided, this was not going to be my life. I found a Tai Chi series online and Tai Chi’d myself out of the ankle brace, but I still needed the cane fairly often, and there were still times I had to use the motorized cart or wheel chair when I was out.
All that has changed since getting the Body Braid last year.
Let me be clear, that in no way am I 100%. It takes work daily. Tai Chi daily. Mind over matter daily. I still have my down days, but my life is so much better now.
I’ve had the Body Braid for a year and a half now. On my good days, I can kayak again, play my guitar again, do my art again. I’m still restricted, but I can use my right arm for so much more now. The finger straps on the arm braid offer great support of my wrist and thumb joint as well.
Then there’s the rest of my body. The full body support is amazing. I can dance at concerts again without leaving in injury or needing my cane to get back to the car afterwards.
And thanks to the strap under my feet, I can dance barefoot again. I wasn’t able to be barefoot anymore thanks to fallen arches and some other issues.
My body has been getting stronger. My proprioception has gotten better even when I’m not wearing it, and late last year I was able to start taking West African Dance classes again.
I’m still limited. I don’t have full range of my shoulders, elbow, and more, but I went from becoming more and more immobile and depressed to getting back to things in life that bring me joy.
I haven’t had to use my cane, motorized cart, or wheelchair since getting the Body Braid. I do use my trekking poles at festivals and while hiking though, but I can walk around festivals and hike again. I still can’t hike very far, but I can get back out in nature again!
The Body Braid has been life changing for me. My only regret is not getting it sooner."
