Princesses Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis and as a parent, I can imagine what she is going through. That is the most devastating news that a person can receive and more so as a parent to young children. I join everyone in wishing her full recovery.
Such news should remind us of the millions of world’s most disadvantaged individuals, communities and populations who are not privileged to receive early diagnosis and preventative treatment to such a devastating disease. Racialized communities, particularly Indigenous and Black peoples, immigrant populations and people disadvantaged by poverty and income instability continue to lack access to timely screening and preventative medicines which are medically necessary services across the globe.
These inequities are perpetuated by lack of disaggregated data and evidence- based interventions, programs and policies.
