Earlier this year, we had some water damage at the studio due to a leaky roof. The roof was replaced a few months back. But the floor needs fixing now. So the landlord will kindly be replacing our beautiful cork floor during the last two weeks of this month.

Tai Chi classes will continue on Saturdays and Sundays in High Park, but the studio will be closed starting Tues Jul 22 to Aug 4.

Studio re-opens to the regular schedule Tuesday Aug 5.

Temporary Schedule

While the studio is under repair, I think it’s a good time for me to take holiday and recharge. A few of my senior students will be running these Tai Chi classes during this time:

Saturday July 26 in High Park at 10am*
Sunday July 27 in High Park at 9am
Saturday August 2 in High Park at 10am*
Sunday August 3 in High Park at 9am

*Please note, these Saturday classes at 10am in High Park will be open to beginners.

If you have any questions with the scheduling or your subscription, please feel free to email me.

Wishing you a lovely week.

Long live the Sun!!

Most of us are stressed more often than we’re not.

Even when life isn’t stressing us, things like modern entertainment, and rigorous exercise routines, keep the adrenals firing. The body can’t discern between different types of stress, mental/emotional/physical. Stress is stress.

Yes, we all breathe. But most of us aren’t any good at it.

When stress shows up, we forget we have lungs.

Both QiGong and Tai Chi emphasize the importance of breathing. Imagine breathing as the exercise. Soft and fluid sequences that open circulation and alleviate tension. Breathing for balance and relaxation.

How is your breathing?

There’s no shame in a lack of skill. It’s not like we were taught any of this as kids.

Come try a beginner class.

These classes are easy to follow, with no previous experience required!!

But How is Paul Doing? - I’ve had 2 people ask me that this week. And it got me thinking, how am I doing?

Let me start by saying that I find my subjective reality a series of lessons. In the true sense, I am blindfolded in the dark, laying claim to what I can see. But anyways…

I know everyone thinks we are all fu**ed, yet I still have this silly grin on my face.

There is more than one show in town. 😉

I’m finding joy in the day-to-day. Sometimes I forget that this is my life, right here-right now. My eyes remain bright, outlandish as circumstances may be.

I’ve noticed more and more how others are looking to me now. Feels a bit odd to be honest. But it’s teaching me how to stand, and reaffirming my trajectory. Uncomfortable into the unknown, I welcome it in.

Developing this business over the last 15 years has been synonymous with me developing myself. It’s trite, but it’s true. By continuing to take care of myself, I can care for others. Perhaps this is something you can take from this. The importance of caring for oneself.

But enough on me, what about you? How are you managing?

As these tumultuous times continue, I encourage you to find ways to take care. For me that’s silence and solitude. But there is more than one way in.

Wishing you well this week.

Do you suffer from these common concerns?

Imbalanced Nervous System
Adrenal fatigue/Kidney deficiency
Vagus nerve dysfunction
High blood pressure

Sunday, April 6, from 12 pm to 2 pm

Curriculum

In this workshop, we will go through these exercises:

– Warm the Kidneys, Calm the Nerves – Relaxing the kidneys, relaxes the adrenals. This is an exercise designed to increase blood flow to vital organs in order to balance the nervous system.

– Root the Feet, Follow the Tree – Grounding exercises for core stability, with the softness and lightness of adaptability and resilience.

– Wave Hands, Pull Silk – A gentle flowing movement to exercise balance using breath work and ancient Daoist principles.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Looking for calmer way? What if relaxation was a better percentage of your day?

Come get your energy back.

Fast-paced living and fast-paced thinking fatigues us. Yet, even when given the opportunity, many of us don’t know how to relax.

Feel immediate effects with this Tai Chi workshop and get the tools to improve your lifestyle.

Tai Chi cultivates relaxation through a soft, steady flow of sequences. In between the ebb and flow of Yin and Yang, using breath work and form, we find the balance that we seek.

Within dynamic shifts of everyday chaos, we can use the art of Tai Chi to access relaxation within movement.

Find your ‘I’ within the storm. Know how to relax!

Who Should Come?

This is a workshop for beginners and those new to Tai Chi. No prerequisites required. If you are struggling with adrenal fatigue, vagus nerve issues, kidney deficiencies, or high blood pressure, then this workshop will give you the tools to combat imbalance and find healing through movement.

Maintaining my meditation practice was important part of last week. It always is. When life spins us in awkward directions, the silence and stillness of meditation has always helped me stay me grounded.

Like pulling silk from a cocoon, my Tai Chi practice has kept me steady and adaptable. As a way of moving, as a way of developing my core, Tai Chi is truly an art of going with the flow, all while maintaining one’s centre.

At a time like this, softness is very much needed. I practice Reiki often with a focus on letting go of my agendas and preferences. Reiki helps at improving my circulation. The less I hold, the easier my route.

—

For those of you that are keen, this weekend we are having our once a month Reiki Share. I am very much looking forward to this community event.

—

I wish you well this month. May you maintain your perspective in times like this. It always useful to see the value that this month brings.

Thank you for reading.
