In many traditions, salt is considered to be excellent at absorbing energy.

At my next Group Tarot Ritual on Sunday March 22nd, we will use salt, herbs, and dried flowers for some spiritual spring cleaning.

Let us clear out any stagnant winter energy, and make space for the newness of springtime.

🌸 Join me on March 22nd and you too will make and take home a beautifully filled glass vial, as pictured here. You will learn how to use it as a spell, if you’d like, or it could be placed on an altar in your home.

If that’s not really your jam, perhaps it could become a beautiful symbol to represent your ability to make change in your life, or simply a reminder of a heart-warming and inspiring afternoon together.

You don’t have to believe anything in particular about it. Beauty in itself is a form of medicine; to make something beautiful is enough. 💐

Want to clear out some negative energy? Call in some fresh, positive energy? Or just do something intentional that marks a change in the season and in the way you are doing things?

✨ Come get a personal tarot card reading with me, while being supported by community, and do salt spells with me. It’s all happening on March 22nd in central Toronto.

Link in bio for tickets and more info!

Hope to see you then.

Welcome to the full moon eclipse in Virgo. ♥️🌕🩸✨

With the cards pulled for this reading, it seems this eclipse is asking us to tend to what we already know we need to do – to trust inwardly, as opposed to simply following our scheduled to-do list.

There is always busy work to tend to.

But what do you KNOW you need to do right now?

What do you KNOW you need to say?

Can you turn your attention towards what you understand to be the more important, deeper work right now?

It doesn’t have to mean that you disrupt your regular work flow, not necessarily, or at least not too much; but can you make a point of aligning yourself with your own truth throughout the day, and not using the busy work as a distraction?

Consider how you go about your days. What systems and work flows govern you, direct your actions, influence your habits?

And how can you clear out the muck, the extraneous, the distractions, to make space for the intuitive, the spontaneous, the poetic, the felt?

As best you can, pull yourself out of the grooves of habit, procrastination, the mundane, to continually reassess.

What is actually needed now?
Where is your energy?
What is the quality your thoughts?
Where is your attention going?
What are you feeding?

From here, stay light, responsive, adaptive.

Don’t fight the deeper pull of the tide. Notice what tugs at you. Challenge yourself to look at it, feel it, respond to it.

Keep course correcting your flow.

Be water.

🌀 WHAT IS THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR? 🌀

The Wheel of the Year is a Celtic and pagan way of marking the passage of time through the seasons.

Nature is our reference point, and the root of this spiritual tradition.

There are 8 benchmarks that are celebrated through this cycle:

🌞 Four are indicated by the first day of each season (winter, spring, summer, autumn), which means they are directed by the movement of the sun.

These dates are the winter solstice, the spring equinox, the summer solstice, and the fall equinox.

In other words, they are the longest day, the shortest day, and the two balance-points on either side of this.

You could picture this as a circle being cut into quarters.

🏔️The other four celebrations are the midpoints between the above four dates. They represent the high point of each season: peak winter time, peak spring, peak summer, peak autumn. These are referred to as the cross-quarters.

🥧 You could picture this as the same circle, already quartered, being further divided into 8 equal slices.

In total, this gives us a year divided into 8 celebrations, each approximately 6 weeks apart.

💛 WANT TO STAY CONNECTED TO THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR WITH ME? 💛

My Wheel of the Year Group Tarot Ritual series offers a thread to follow through the year, with 8 in-person gatherings in Toronto, centred around a shared tarot ritual experience, and incorporating some sort of seasonal magic that is unique to each gathering.

These events are supportive, empowering, and introvert-friendly.

You do not need to sign up for the whole year – you can join in for whichever gatherings you’d like!

It’s the new moon ECLIPSE in Aquarius today. Community reading time!

Bonus thoughts on the reading:

7 of Cups is confusing, daydreamy, full of illusion. Like I said, it’s not a great time for making decisions.

It IS, however, a good time for enjoying the realms of fantasy!

Daydream! Get lost in a novel or in music you love! Stare at the sky and space out! Imagine yourself where you’d most like to be and hang out there! Binge a dreamy show or a movie with a vibe you enjoy!

This sort of daydreamy indulgence may not have notable meaning for the measurable progress of your life, but that doesn’t make it meaningless – it is a way of tapping into symbols and archetypes that speak to something deeper in you, or can help you clarify deeper desires and dreams of your own, or perhaps offer catharsis through what can feel like sympathetic magic, as you move your own feelings vicariously through the created worlds of another.

These are ALL useful things in their way!

And yet the Empress as a block can indicate a need to watch how far we drop into self-indulgence. Recognize where you might need some restraint.

Tap into the dreamy haze of the 7 of Cups USEFULLY by:

☁️ Identifying your needs and wants
☁️ Moving your feelings
☁️ Finding inspiration
☁️ Mentally resting

…without being TOO self-indulgent in your own pleasure.

Still consider the facts of your life, as they are known to you. Deal with what you have to deal with, and maybe don’t put more on your plate.

Feel free to accept the cosmic invitation to eclipse out some of the heaviness of the world and your life right now with a momentary poetic reprieve into creativity and mental rest.

✨☁️

Oooof, the world. The world is a lot.

And this week, in our reading, we are asked to keep our focus on what we can affect.

It doesn’t mean to ignore the world, and the things going on in it. Just don’t drain too much energy away from what you CAN do and the things that you CAN change, the ways that you CAN impact people.

And then strive to do THOSE things well.

In the slice of world that you are responsible for, how can you be a benevolent ruler?

How can you work hard in this place while still taking good care of yourself?

How can you use what you have to extend care to others?

What do you need to sort out this week so that things are in order and running smoothly?

Whatever scale you are working at, do your best to be consistent, reliable, steady, and practical. You have the ability to do great things, and care for others through that work along the way.

It’s your Imbolc Full Moon community reading!

This message feels perfect for Imbolc, the time of resting within the womb of winter: just pause.

Let yourself rest and be still.

This rest must come from you, be chosen by you.

There’s an understanding that yes, there is more, you will do more, change and transformation are coming.

And right now, let yourself be still before that time comes. Collect yourself back up. Catch your breath.

Imbolc says: yes, spring is coming!

AND, right now, it’s still winter.

Let yourself find some coziness. Tend to yourself sweetly.

Can you invite yourself, at least for a time, to be a cat in the warm lap of your life?

Happy Imbolc! It’s the Celtic festival date that marks the mid point between the Winter Solstice (the start of winter) an...

Happy Imbolc!

It’s the Celtic festival date that marks the mid point between the Winter Solstice (the start of winter) and the Spring Equinox (the start of spring)!

There are a few variations on interpretations of what the name “Imbolc” means or is best translated as. The most common is “in the belly” in reference to the sheep being pregnant with the promise of spring lambs.

It’s a time to be with the heart of winter, while also knowing that spring is coming, drawing near.

What are WE gestating, so to speak, through these last 6 weeks or so of winter?

It’s the “quickening” of the year. We are now tilted towards the spring!

And yet it’s not here yet - let us still make ourselves spaces in the stillness as we’re able, to nest into the belly of the winter a little more.

It feels potent that this year’s Imbolc arrives with the full moon!

And you know what means… Your community reading is coming up. :)

First quarter moon community reading.

🌓🐂✨

There is SO much pain and violence in the world right now.

Let yourself FEEL this.

A lot of people are feeling grief-stricken, scared, enraged, overwhelmed, depressed…

And I’ve heard some admit to it, like it’s somehow weak of them to let the intensity of the world get to them.

I tell them that I’m glad that their humanity is intact enough to be rocked in this way.

I don’t wish for anyone to feel overwhelmed or depressed, scared or angry, shaken or deeply sad.

And also, what if these are the only responses that make sense right now?

I would in some ways be more worried for someone who feels fine - as if the current state of the world isn’t that big a deal.

We’re all in this mess together.

LET. YOURSELF. FEEL. THIS.

Be with your grief. Be with the grief of the world.

Let yourself touch into it, in some amount.

It’s okay that it’s big. It’s okay if you don’t know what to do with it right now.

Start by feeling it.

Cry. Write. Yell.

Come back into your tender, human self.

You are not a productivity machine.

You are a feeling member of this human community, and we are sharing so much ache and rage right now.

Be human. Don’t hide from the hurt. Let it move through you. Let it inform you.

Action is needed, and paralysis is understandable but not helpful. Feel to get out of the freeze.

Let yourself feel this!!

Let yourself be changed.

New moon community reading. 🌚✨

It’s a time for more self care and less trying to figure everything out.

More coming back to our bodies and caring for them, not just to meet our base needs, but to do so (and then some) in enjoyable ways.

It’s time for us to love ourselves up the way we might care for someone else whom we care deeply about.

How does it land for you?

(I sure needed to hear this one! How ‘bout you guys?)

🥀Memories of root-bound beings, eating sunlight and turning it into dancing colours atop pedestals of green

Now dry and holding a wilted impression of their former shape

Still boasting beauty from their stiffened delicate forms.

Can you let them go, trusting in the new season of blooming to come?

Imbolc is the mid-winter Group Tarot Ritual, and this is the ritual magic we will lean into this time.

We release, we trust, we hope.

We make ourselves cozy and wait patiently.
