Gerald was always a loner, he shared with me. We had lunch the other day in Escazu. . he's been living there for about a year now and he thought it was about time to acquire his RESIDENCY! He was sick of going to the border every three months to renew his visa. So, we're in the process of getting it all done for him. I'm collecting his paperwork and by April of next year, he'll have his cedula! He couldn't be happier.

Gerald is a mild-mannered individual. He's very polite. He doesn't seem to get out much. He's got a very nice condo on the third floor. The grocery store, coffee shop and numerous sodas are within a three-block area. He met a Tico who has a very reliable car who is semi-retired. Anytime Gerald has to go any distance, he's got a ride at the ready. Life is good for Gerald. He told me that was getting rather bored a few months ago. He was at the Multiplaza walking around one Saturday morning. They have a music store there. Well, Gerald purchased a ukulele. He studied hard and has been practicing many hours a day and wow, he's actually getting very good at playing all kinds of music. He knows about 5 jazz tunes. . he loves the classic rock songs of the 1960's and his salsa music is coming along.

In his condo building, there's a lot of older people there. There's a room they call the, "Multi-purpose" area. It has a piano, a tv or two, a coffee machine and an area with about 50 chairs. They have speakers come in every week to talk about travel, insurance, points of interest, etc., etc. They now have a little band that has formed because of Gerald's efforts. Sarah is 80 and she plays the piano. Gerald, of course is on the UKE. . Jimmy is 55 and he's playing a couple 5-gallon buckets with some drum sticks that Gerald got for him and Alice has the voice of an angel.

They've been playing together for a couple of weeks now and they have quite a following. Gerald's Spanish is coming along and he can certainly carry a tune with the best of 'em! I am going to come over with my guitar this Thursday afternoon and strum a few songs with the band! Gerald is having a lot of fun now. His life isn't boring anymore. He has adapted to the PURA VIDA Lifestyle and wow, what a difference it has made for him!
