Michelle Li is a super-talented and exceptionally driven member of my R&D team. While many my colleagues and students are still waiting and wondering what they should do with AI, we believe that you have to learn and understand the technology in order to be part of the solution. In the process we wrestle with ethical issues and broader social implications. Hopefully through our attempts, including the mistakes we may make, we can find a satisfactory way to use this technology to help more people. This will almost inevitably disrupt the professional paradigm that many are still holding onto, but the post-professional is here, and will continue to evolve.

I am at the airport waiting for my flight to Taiwan. I will have quite a few SSLD events there, including two days of PID training. Meanwhile, colleagues in Hong Kong also want to learn more about the application. The program will be conducted in the local language Cantonese though.

It’s most gratifying to see the second SSLD online course (on dementia care)ready to launch. I wish to thank my incredible team members Wendy Chong, Jillian Stagg, Roland Mak, and Megha Agnihotri for the fabulous job. It’s over two years of research, planning and production. I am also extremely thankful for my colleagues of the University of Toronto, including our teaching hospitals and clinical units, as well as those from other institutions (e.g. State University of New York, Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care) for their invaluable contributions. The Institute for Life Course and Aging of the University of Toronto, directed by my close colleague Esme Fuller-Thomson, is the best collaborator one can hope for. I am optimistic that many learners, especially caregivers, will find the course helpful.
