Once there was a room with no windows and inside sat an artist, creating me.
She had no knowledge of the outside world and could only reference her own existence to create life as she knew it to be.
This windowless room was empty inside so she took from herself to make me, using matter so deeply embedded with pain that I wept as I was formed.
My creator cradled me with arms that were scarred and the strength of her embrace caused her wounds to impress themselves upon my skin. When she pulled away to look at me, she saw only her own reflection and began to cry.
She shed so many tears that her eyes turned blind and all memories of the room began to wash away. I was swept swiftly out into the world and watched her grow distant as she offered only a helpless apology.
Then she turned and looked away while the world swallowed me whole.
It was some time before I understood.
My creator was just a child doing the best she could.

This Saturday in Toronto, I’m facilitating a Mother Wound Workshop + Hammock Sound Bath to tend to the ache, soften the armor, and begin rewriting the script.

We’ll dive deep—with compassion, clarity, and care.
You’ll be guided through reflective prompts and somatic practices.
You’ll be nourished with a light, grounding meal.
And you’ll rest in a hammock while sound envelops and carries you, surrounded by community that knows a similar pain.
