Can Praxis

Can Praxis Equine-assisted therapy for veterans and first responders living with operational stress injuries (OSI). Richard F.

Can Praxis was founded by Steve Critchley a 28 year veteran of the Canadian Forces and an international mediator, facilitator, negotiator, and trainer. As unresolved conflict destroys relationships, and is especially common in overly stressed families, Can Praxis trains participants to manage their conflict effectively. The theoretical foundation for this is Managing Differences by Dan Dana PhD. Celeste, former Governor of Ohio, described the book as "A practical guide for dealing with conflict. Dr. Dana moves from scholarly content to common sense with uncommon ease." Can Praxis uses walk-along exercises with horses as a training aid. As a ‘flight’ animal they react to human body language. Horses react to what they see; it is their body language that speaks volumes about humans in their proximity. As EAT facilitators, we offer a translation the horses’ behavior to participants in order to increase their own self-awareness.

🌟 How to Follow Your Brave Calling as an Entrepreneur with Trauma

Following your calling isn’t just about business strategy — it’s about healing, alignment, and bravery.

When you’ve lived through trauma, building something meaningful becomes more than a career move — it’s a spiritual and emotional journey.

Here are three daily check-ins to help you stay grounded and focused on your mission 👇

💡 1. Check Your State Before Your Strategy

Ask yourself: “How am I really feeling today?”
Your nervous system is your foundation.

When you lead from regulation instead of reactivity, you make decisions from clarity — not fear.

✨ Regulate before you create.

🎯 2. Reconnect With Your Why

Ask: “What am I building this for — and who am I serving?”

Your “why” is your anchor on hard days.

It reminds you that your pain has purpose and your work brings healing to others.

🔥 Your why is your power source.

🌱 3. Choose One Brave Step — Not Ten

Ask: “What’s one brave action I can take today?”

Entrepreneurs with trauma often try to do it all — but one intentional, heart-led action each day is what builds sustainable momentum.

🌿 Consistency creates calm; courage builds confidence.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need to stay brave, stay grounded, and take the next aligned step.

💬 What has helped you stay connected to your mission when things get hard?

Let us all share and celebrate those wins!

Operational Stress Injuries is a family affair.

That’s why our unique “Breaking the Cycle” program – the first of its kind in North America – invites the entire family to attend at the same time. With approaches and outcomes rooted in neuroscience and peer-reviewed research, this groundbreaking veteran-led, whole-family program is an industry leader that has caught the attention of Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) receiving both financial support (through their Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund) and an evaluation to further amplify and encourage the program’s success.

That’s a wrap on Day 1! We hope you enjoyed today’s sessions and conversations as much as we did. Tomorrow is another full day, and we can’t wait to see you back for Day 2.

Before we close out, a gentle reminder: please take care of yourself. If you need to talk, support is always available.

You're not alone, help is always close by.
