One of the frequent questions I’ve been getting asked about my new space - “will there be direct billing”?

YES 🙌🏻

In my new space, I’ll be equipped to bill your benefits for your convenience! Simply bring your insurance card to your first visit and I’ll take care of the rest. At this time I will be billing SunLife, Pacific Blue Cross, Greenshield and all insurances listed under the Telus eClaims grouping. Not sure if your insurance is one I’m working with? Big things are coming! ✨

As I make this transition to more independence in my practice, I look forward to integrating myself into the community and building more reciprocal relationships with my fellow small businesses.

Behind the scenes I have been working tirelessly to get myself set up for you in the new space, and also beginning more networking initiatives.

The beauty of being in a small community is you get the opportunity to foster strong relationships with your neighbours. I have never been a big fan of models that look at other similar businesses as “competitors”. I don’t believe one clinic can ever be a “one stop shop” as we all have our limitations. It is such a luxury to have other practitioners with differing skill sets to refer to. Never will I be a “master” at all physio techniques - but what I can do is do my best to find the best fit for you when my service offerings become limited.

Looking forward to sharing more as more pieces fall into place.

Leakage, heaviness and discomfort may be “common”, but they are also very treatable! Pelvic floor physio can be an effective treatment to help you enjoy running with more confidence and comfort.

How does the pelvic floor play into running?

1️⃣ Increased Performance: Your pelvic floor is part of your core system. When it’s working well, it helps transfer force efficiently through your body — meaning better power, stability, and running economy.

2️⃣ Better Load Management: Running is high impact. A well-coordinated pelvic floor and surrounding hip musculature help you absorb and respond to those forces with each stride, reducing strain on your body over time. You’d do plyometrics for your legs, why not your pelvic muscles!?

3️⃣ Increase Confidence: When you trust your body, you train differently. Pelvic floor rehab can help you run without fear of symptoms allowing you to focus on the enjoyment of running, not your limitations.

As a physiotherapist, I don’t work FOR you, I work WITH you. My approach to rehab is one built around core values such as - autonomy, empowerment, sustainability and integrity.

What does that mean? Although I have many years of education in the field of rehab science and 1000s of hours of clinical experience - at the end of the day, you know your body best. My job as a physio is to help foster autonomy to allows you to claim sovereignty over your health. With the tools and education pieces I share in our sessions, my hope is that you actually GET BETTER, and don’t feel like you need me forever.

The human body is capable of incredible things, and building a movement practice is one of the many ways we prove to ourselves just how capable we are. Nothing lights me up more than guiding others to reach their potential through encouragement and support during their rehab journey.

Another biggie for me is - an effort needs to be made to make rehab fun. If I am not trying to find exercises that feel approachable and enjoyable for you, or actually feel good in your body, I’m failing at my job. When vibes are low, so is motivation, and so is long term adherence and success.

What spiked my interest to explore pelvic floor physio?

As a movement-focused physio, I’ve always believed you can’t truly treat the body in isolation—and that includes the pelvic floor. It’s a key part of how we move, stabilize, breathe, and generate force, yet it’s often overlooked in rehab and performance.

My decision to pursue training in pelvic floor physiotherapy is also personal. As a former high-level athlete, I’ve experienced pelvic floor symptoms myself—Looking back, I can see how much this kind of service would have complimented my training routines.

Pelvic health issues are incredibly common, yet many people struggle in silence or don’t realize support is available. I wanted to deepen my knowledge so I can better support my patients, bring more awareness to this area, and help people feel stronger, more confident, and more in control of their bodies.

At this time I offer non-internal pelvic floor physio for the treatment of: urinary incontinence, pregnancy support, postpartum recovery, mild prolapse and non-complex pelvic pain.

🚨 Exciting Career Update!

Starting May 2026 I will be providing services out of .wellness in Trail. After a rewarding and encouraging first year of physiotherapy I am excited to be taking the next steps towards more independence as a practitioner and business owner with this move. This month I am tirelessly working behind the scenes to get myself set up for you. This means making sure all my administrative responsibilities are clean and clear and that I have all the equipment needed to support you (yes there will still be heavy weights)!

I will be working alongside the lovely acupuncturist and TCM practitioner Alison Stadnyk and look forward to collaborating on things such as sports injuries, pain management, nervous system support, pregnancy and postpartum support.

Happy International Women’s Day 💪🏻

As a physio, I have the privilege of working with incredible women every day — helping them move better, feel stronger, understand and reconnect to their bodies. From pelvic health to sports injuries, strength training, and navigating the changes that come with different stages of life, women’s health deserves attention, support, and care today and everyday.

Today is a great reminder that your health matters. Your pain is valid. And your body is capable of incredible strength and resilience.

Often patients are surprised to learn that Urinary Incontinence (UI) can be caused by a tight pelvic floor, and not always due to a weak pelvic floor.

First let’s talk about “Stress Incontinence”. Stress incontinence is a type of UI that occurs in response to activities that place extra pressure on the bladder. Common instances include coughing, sneezing, jumping or lifting something heavy. So, it makes sense that a weak pelvic floor would struggle to prevent leakage under these higher demands, but why might we get leakage when our pelvic floor is tight or overactive?

Imagine holding a small box at your chest for hours at a time. Though the box feels light at first, that’s one heck of a long time to sustain a bicep curl position. Now imagine someone added a heavier box on top of the current one … your biceps may not have enough energy in the tank for the added load to carry the extra weight, causing you to drop it.

This is what happens with a tight pelvic floor. Though not necessary weak, these muscles get tired from being contracted all day long. Then when we go to do a task that requires a bit more strength, our muscles are too fatigued to meet the demands of that cough or sneeze, leading to leakage.

This is why a thorough assessment for UI is important. Are we experiencing leakage because we’re weak, or before we’re overactive/tight? With a tight pelvic floor traditional Kegels can actually be detrimental, reinforcing more fatigue. In the instance of a tight pelvic floor, exercises that stretch the pelvic floor as well as calm our nervous system are essential.

Thinking about whipping out the running shoes in the near future? 👟

Temperatures are rising meaning so are people’s motivation to start getting back into running. We’re expecting above 10 degrees and sunshine over this next week in Trail! ☀️

As a physio, the biggest mistake I see isn’t how people run — it’s doing too much, too soon.

Your heart and lungs adapt quickly.
Your tendons, bones, and connective tissue? They need a bit more time!

Here’s are some ways to be mindful of not overdoing it:

✔️ Start with run-walk intervals if you’re new to running.
✔️ Increase volume gradually. Research on running injuries has shown you’re better off running more days a week with shorter runs than you are cramming all that volume into one “big run”. Start small and stay consistent!
✔️ Give yourself rest days. Adaptation happens between runs.
✔️ Supplement your running with regular strength training. 1-2 days a week can make a huge difference for injury prevention and improving your running performance.
✔️ Mild muscle soreness is normal. Sharp, worsening, or localized pain isn’t. Seek assistance from a professional earlier rather than later if things aren’t feeling right.

My PERFORMANCE Physiotherapy service is the byproduct of years of work as a strength and conditioning coach and now my work as a manual therapist. This treatment serves the purpose of filling the much needed gap between rehab and performance. Gone are the days of under loading patients, poor return to sport testing and undue risk of reinjury upon return.

With elements of strength & conditioning and regular performance testing, PERFORMANCE physiotherapy sessions are geared toward sport-specific prehab and rehab. From recreational to professional athletes, I’ve seen it all and look forward to integrating what I’ve learned in the S&C world into this new service.

With technology we have access to incredible testing opportunities to ensure you’re on track for a safe return to play, or minimizing the risk of common injuries in your respective sport given what we’re seeing in the clinic.

🚨 New Service Alert 🚨

This weekend I completed my Non-Internal Introductory Pelvic Health Course delivered by Pelvic Health Solutions.

Starting June 16 I will be offering non-internal pelvic health physical therapy to help better serve the community in this underserviced treatment area.

This service may be right for you if you’re experiencing any of or looking for advice on any of the following:
- Pelvic pain (i.e. at rest, with activity, during sexual in*******se)
- Preventative care before childbirth
- Urinary Incontinence (leaking)
- Postpartum recovery support
- Experiencing a high frequency of urination or a strong urge when you feel the need to empty
- Experiencing difficulty fully emptying your bowel or bladder
- Postural and breathing based exercises for optimal pelvic floor function
- Additional education to support pelvic health and function

For any situations that extend beyond my scope as a non-internal therapist, we have the ability to collaborate with my colleague at RANGE for more advanced care including internal based assessment and treatment.

‼️ Attention runners ‼️

Training for an upcoming race but also trying to balance some nagging injuries? Take the guessing out of your rehab plan and get back to your 100% (or better!) even quicker.

This past week I ran an endurance running athlete through a full VALD performance and physiotherapy injury assessment to get some insight into the source of an Achilles injury.

In our assessment we did a slow-mo gait analysis to assess loading patterns during the movement that brings on symptoms.

We assessed the 10 jump hop test, a highly Achilles specific assessment to see any differences side to side, RSI value, and looked for avoidance of loading.

We also looked up the chain at major muscle groups to see if there were any absolute strength or rate of force development differences side to side that might explain added stress onto the tendon.

We also looked into range of motion at all major joints to see how that may be affecting mechanics and loading strategies.
