The next time someone says something kind about you or recognizes something you've done well - try believing them instead of just dismissing it. Fight that voice that says you're not good enough. You *are* enough, and the people who see your worth aren't wrong about you.

According to the World Health Organization, 16% of the world’s population experiences significant disability, or 1 in 6 of us.

Not all disabilities can be seen. Invisible disabilities—like chronic pain, mental health conditions, or neurological differences—can limit or challenge a person’s daily life even if they aren’t visible from the outside.

That’s why true inclusion at work means going beyond what you can see:

✅ Listening when someone share their needs
✅ Providing accommodations without judgment
✅ Building cultures of trust and respect

Many of my ND clients find DBT techniques veryyy helpful, especially for navigating intense feelings and being able to be present more often. If you’ve ever wished for a set of “emotional regulation tools,” that’s exactly what Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers! 🧠💝

DBT can be especially helpful for ADHD by teaching and improving mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and clear communication.

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

"Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world. Globally, almost one in three women have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both, at least once in their life. Even more devastating is the fact that one woman or girl is killed every 10 minutes by their intimate partner or family." (United Nations)

Today is a vital reminder that every woman and girl deserves to live free from fear, harm, and discrimination. At Every Woman’s Centre, we stand with survivors and remain committed to providing support, resources, and advocacy for those impacted by violence in our community. Together, we can raise awareness, challenge harmful norms, and work toward a future where safety, dignity, and equality are a reality for all women. Let’s continue to listen, learn, and take action.

Reminder that boundaries don’t always have to be grand, dramatic statements. They can be subtle, consistent ‘micro boundaries’ that constantly safeguard your mental space.

Ever wondered about the science behind self-soothing? It’s your body’s natural recipe for calm.

When emotions run high, techniques like deep breathing and visualization help lower your heart rate and clear your mind.

It’s how you move from emotional flooding to grounded connection. The more you practice this skill, the easier it becomes to handle stress, together.

Growing up as the ‘Good Child’ leads to people-pleasing, exhaustion, and feeling unsafe showing the real you. Your worth is not tied to your performance or likeability. It’s time to choose you.

If you’re thinking about writing a su***de note, please pause, there’s another way forward. You don’t have to face this alone, and your story isn’t over.

Hear from someone who’s been there: how to counter suicidal thoughts, why recovery is possible, and where to find immediate support.

Strength looks different each day. Sometimes it's doing the most and other times it's knowing that you need help and asking for it. Showing up as best you can is what counts.

The Window of Tolerance.
Credit : Lindsay Brahman.

We always stand a much better chance of staying on course if they pay close attention to our nervous system.

This is especially true for those with a history of trauma.

Learning about fight, flight, fawn, and freeze can be helpful, but learning how these responses manifest in our bodies is where the magic really starts.

When we understand how fight, flight, freeze, or fawn show up for us, we can develop an internal template to refer back to in moments where we are feeling a lot of (or beginning to shut down and feeling no emotion at all) that alerts us when it’s time take steps to soothe our and return to our window of tolerance.

No one has an innate ability to pause during a conflict and reflect “Gosh, I think I might be moving into a freeze response.”

Instead, this realization tends to be something we recognize as we reflect on an experience later.

Growing the capacity to check in with ourselves and notice, in the moment, when we are slipping into a response is one key to learning how to self-soothe, expand our , grow emotionally, and build .

That’s where my new comes in: it’s a tool specifically for helping us recognize when we are moving out of our window of tolerance (where we can listen, learn, and respond thoughtfully) and into a reaction state.

Like the Emotion Sensation Wheel, the Fight, Flight, & Freeze Embodied Wheel is a tool to prompt conversations and build awareness by showing how each of these responses *tends* to show up through physical sensations.

It's not prescriptive- it's a conversation starter. It's meant to teach, to stir, and to prompt conversations that build awareness, connection, and experience through awareness.

Love this for a grounding activity or positive, fun distraction:

Take a break from scrolling and ground yourself in the present by searching any (or all!) or the following:

- Something you’d like to eat
- 13 pumpkins or gourds
- Things you’d find at school
- Something very spooky
- An “All Too Well” reference
- 10 pieces of candy corn
- An inverted little ghost
- Something warm to wear
- 3 yellow pencils
- An item in your favorite color
- Something you rarely see
- 2 black cat silhouettes
- An item you’d use outdoors
- Something that flies
- A loud chirping insect
- An item that’s in your house
- Leaves (count them all!)

By looking for any of these, you’re using one of your five senses (sight!) to connect with the present moment. You can do this anywhere by looking around you for a specific color or shape — or come back here anytime and choose an another option from the list to guide yourself back to the present!

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

"Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process." (Government of Canada)

Today, we take time to honor the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never made it home. It is a day for reflection, remembrance, and a commitment to listening, learning, and supporting healing. May we all continue to walk the path of truth, justice, and reconciliation together.
